jvidal
60.8 to 68.0? that's quite a big jump! Oh, and BTW, beware: your addons will not work with this version until they're updated by the authors.

Same thing when Firefox turned to WebExtensions (v57) .... it took long time to get it working as before.

InsaneAl
Does T'bird 60.8.0 tell you that there is an update waiting for you? I've actually downloaded the installer for 68.0,, but even just an hour ago T'bird still said mine was up to date (60.8.0) - maybe because of the addons/extensions etc that jvidal spoke of not working...!!! InsaneAl "Thunderbird version 68.0 is only offered as direct download from thunderbird.net and not as upgrade from Thunderbird version 60 or earlier. A future version 68.1 will provide updates from earlier versions. If you have installed Lightning, Thunderbird's calendar add-on, it will automatically be updated to match the new version of Thunderbird." InsaneAl
Cheers and thanks for that info ederfernandez. It may be better for me to wait for that next update update. I can't remember just how many addons etc I have but I do know I have "a few",, and after that firefox update a while ago that disabled all my addons, I don't want to got through that again too soon. I will experiment with the installer for 60.8 that I just downloaded, by unpacking it and copying over the files to see what get disabled. I have backups of all my firefox stuff going back quite a few versions (just for occasions like this), so if anything goes wrong, it's easy to simply copy back the backed up version and its settings etc. You never know,, it might work out ok for me. I'll soon see. Cheers and thanks... ***Edit in a few minutes later,,, Just copied 68.0 unpacked files over (after backing up 60.8.0 of course), fired it up and voila, it works just fine...!!! p4psb
Updated to Thunderbird version 68.0. All my accounts are marked to automatically check (and download) messages on startup. This worked fine on previous versions, but no longer works on v68.0. I have opened Thunderbird numerous times to test it. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, makes no difference. I have to manually click ‘Get Messages’. Anyone else got this bug?
InsaneAl
I noticed a "few" things which seem to work slightly differently (but still work satisfactorily) and a few graphics things which have changed,, the most slightly annoying is the "Clear Recent History" option from the Tools menu. The box that shows up is smaller and hides most of the changeable choices and I think there are 1 or 2 settings no longer there (which I only ever used once or twice anyway), but, I cannot drag the boxes sides out wider or top/bottom up or down so I can see all the settings available. It is very small and all squished up. Luckily 3 of the previous 4 settings I had previously are still checked, so this too is one of those "slightly different" things which still works... Apart from those things, T/bird seems to be 'same old'. One other noticeable thing is checking for updates from the Help/About menu, which acts exactly like Firefox - checks automatically as soon as you open it. Please Mozilla, don't change too much more in either (FF & TB). They are good apps but at times show ragged edges which seem to suggest control is about to swing away from us and over to you and this is Not Acceptable At All...!!!
