Firefox 3.6beta3 during 3 hours of use looking for software in many sites, working fine here. Faster than ever !

I'll wait for the final custom build version :D

-----------------------------------------------------

Just testing...I suppose the final will not take to long...About add-ons : I just use FlashGot .

I prefer HOSTS.MVP to Block Unwanted Parasites instead of ADBlock Plus

Cheers

+ 1 for that but it sometimes takes months for an update. Having adblock+ element hiding helper is good for those ads that the HOSTS file missed.

------------------------------------------

Sorry but not true:

Updates once every month...( last one was on 13th Nov and before was on 8 of October).I use it sense Jun. Works fine, believe me. You may try and delete if you dont like...(just have to follow instructions given)

One thing I dont understand is why people here is always saying in 1st., some software isn`t good...Software also grows up with experience.Remember win95 ? and MS-DOS O.S. ??!!

Interesting.. Installed this on my Laptop and it actually disabled the add-on's that aren't compatible... Previous Beta it still allowed for them to work... Lame.

---

EDIT:

That Nightly Tools thing worked.

Makes me curious if it might help in my IDM case.. time to test.

---

2nd EDIT:

Nopes, I guess if anything, the problem lies somewhere in how I'm installing the program.. But it isn't a biggy, yet. Once it goes Final then I'll investigate more, happy with 3.5.5

Thanks for the tip about Hosts.mvp. Looks really cool. I'm giving it a try.

I guess you just have to check every now and then for updates?

You should try Mr Tech Tool Kit 6.0.3.4.. then go to your Add-ons window, and make them all compatible..Its what I used.. You know this could be a registry issue...

@heath28m:

Some firefox plug-ins that become incompatible every new version is just normal.

The author of those plug-ins just need to update their code.

Right.. some of them also just need to verify that they are not effected and create no issues.. Mr Tech Tool Kit 6.0.3.4 ( I screwed up the name earlier ) will actually allow you to make them all compatible.. what this does is changes the compatible version number for the extension so that it can be run.. The first time I ran it I checked only the ones that were invalid.. one at a time..to make sure there was no cross-extension incompatibility.. and none apparent with the new update.. cross referencing the change log as well for the Browser...Other will have issues, and need a few changes or upgrades in the code..( Major update say from 2.0 to 3.0.. really play a huge role, when it comes to recoding the extensions.. the browser itself in many ways has changed and many aspects may or may not still be available and will be different..I also have noticed this from sub upgrade say from 3.0 to 3.5, but it usually covers or effects a different area of the browser. ) Some will have errors you can track in the Error Console as well.. which can always help you find extensions that are not a good thing, or cleanly/correctly enough written for your browser to function as efficiently as it could.. To do this do a clean start, and open the Error Console.. ( I actually use Console2 ) and view ALL.. this can shed some light on a few errors.. some can cause bigger problems than others.. so it is kind of a shot in the dark if you are not already familiar with the extension itself..Good place to kind of watch..

@ Sacred Cultivator - Have you tried this for the IDM? http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/support/firefox_integration.html

Heath always has some useful info for us. I always thought that the IDM FF addon automatically gets updated with the latest version of IDM. I was wrong, I was two versions behind.

You will have to look for updates; it does not update automatically. Follow instructions given on link above posted and keep link in bookmarks.

Hmm that's not it, as IDM does work, it's just a strange conflict between Gmail + IDM. As I know I have the latest Add-on installed for it... Well Still got 'time' so to speak... As I tried uninstalling/reinstalling FF and that didn't do anything.

So I'll just wait till 3.6 goes final and try again.

As far as I know, FF 3.6 final should be released in late December.

That's what I figured. Already got the link in a bookmark. I really like the idea of blocking all those IP's that way. Would be very cool if they figured out a way to auto update it or at least notify users of updates. Perhaps this app could be added to the frontpage?

@ heath28m: As mentioned previously... Basically if Gmail is loaded... And I try to create a new tab or just wait there for a good minute... I get a crash "Firefox stopped working", before it would give me the option to report the crash.. Now it doesn't... Lame, and 'simple fix' is to just not install/enable the IDM add-on and find an alternative.. but Orbit got lame with their forced add-on.

Odd.. I will have to check this out later... Have you installed the Google Talk plugin? .. and it only happens with IDM enabled or installed? Are there any options with IDM about how it works with prefetching links... or with sites on load? Have you watched your Error Console when loading the page and recreating the problem?

@heath28m: Nope, didn't instlal Google Talk.

And yes, only when IDM is enabled does this problem occur. I can have it disabled and it'll work just fine.

Not too sure about the Prefetching stuff you mentioned.

Never really bothered to look into the Error Console about this.
