To access Edge Insider’s new tab page customisation options:

1. Open a new tab in the browser.
2. Click the hamburger menu (three vertical lines) in the top-right of the page.
3. Use the options to customise your page.

Microsoft Edge Insider gives you several options for customising your new tab page. By default, it showcases the Bing photo of the day and provides you with quick news headlines. If this is too much unnecessary information, you can finetune what’s displayed using Edge’s settings.

 

 

On a fresh installation of the browser, your new tab page will look similar to the screenshot shown above. A search bar and quick access links bar are overlaid on the Bing photo of the day. A translucent button at the bottom of the screen lets you access your Microsoft News feed, which is used as the new tab page in the current EdgeHTML-powered public version of Edge.

 

 

To access the customisation options, click the hamburger menu icon at the top-right of the page. You can also open Edge’s settings and click “New tab page” – both methods display the same options.

 

 

There are three preset styles you can switch between: Focused, Inspirational and Informational. Inspirational describes the default layout. Informational displays highlights from your news feed at the bottom of the page, similar to the Bing.com homepage. Focused, meanwhile, strips everything back to basics, removing the background image but retaining the searchbar and website quick links.

 

The custom layout option gives you more control. You can individually enable and disable the most visited sites, Bing image and news feed components. Use the toggle buttons to select only the controls which matter to you. Irrespective of your selection, the searchbar will always remain visible on the page.

 

 

Finally, if you’ve enabled the “most visited sites” strip, you can customise the sites which show up here. Hover over a site’s tile and click the “X” in the top-right corner to remove it. You can add your own link by clicking the “+” tile at the end of the strip and typing the address to the site.

 

The options are fairly self-explanatory so you’ll hopefully have no difficulty in creating your personalised page. Whether you want to see the latest news or use a minimal experience, you should be able to achieve the look you want using the revised New Tab page in Edge Insider.
