Question about GSM chip

Hi, guys! I'd like to know if the data from GSM chips, as contacts, messages can be recovered from a damaged chip. My mobile phone's chip stopped working and my mobile provider is going to give me a new chip with the same mobile number...

What do you mean by damaged chip?

1- plastic broken

2- electronic die in the open ( I mean no more covered by the golden pads)

3- receive an electric shock

4- drawn in water

5- the phone cannot read it

6- blocked via password

7- or else

Why you post in the Tavern and not in Technology Talk?

Did you manipulated it with your fingers (touch the golden pads) ?

Try to clean the pads with cotton and alcohol.

To have an idea of what is inside :

1st problem could be mechanic : a broken connection

2nd problem is Electrostatic chock could kill the diode of protection (inside the black plastic chip), this happen with fingers.

If a second phone wasn't able to read it, then your sim card is dead : throw it in the bin.
