WFC is able to handle 3 different file extensions when one needs to manage the Windows Firewall policy: 

• WFW - replace -> removes all and adds the custum rules. The WFW file is used to backup or transfer your settings from or to the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security tool (Microsoft format).

• WPW - merge -> keep all and add the custom firewall rules.

• WFS - overwrite -> keeps the not included and overwrites all the existing firewall rules.

WFS and WPW files are using the XML format and can be edited in any text editor.
