A pretty didactic explanation of the problem and includes the morale... But there is a detail, not clear at all. 737 MAX was introduced in 2011. And looks, nothing happened in 7 years! So, what's the explanation? Any reference?

The "right" conditions with a different, mostly unknown system bred the perfect recipe for disaster. Faulty sensors, a system that isn't particularly robust.. Pretty much luck it didn't happen earlier.

the root cause and biggest reason, Boeing was allowed to SELF REGULATE safety, they took huge cost-cutting measures at the expense of safety because they could.  Safety took a very large step backward to make a bigger profit.

  • 2 weeks later...

I heard Boeing had an upgrade software package that would show the faulty sensor reading so pilots would understand what is going wrong. So you need to pay for the upgrade package not to crash :)

Looks pretty Apple-ish! We made a faulty device, so you have to pay up to get a working one :D
