jalaffa
<img src="http://www.nsanedown.com/images/logos/java.png" class="logo" alt="Java" title="Java" />The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) provides the libraries, the Java Virtual Machine, and other components to run applets and applications written in the Java programming language. In addition, two key deployment technologies are part of the JRE: Java Plug-in, which enables applets to run in popular browsers; and Java Web Start, which deploys standalone applications over a network. This is the official Java Download from Sun Microsystems. <a href="http://www.nsanedown.com/?request=19758519" target="_blank">Download</a>

HX1
Right and also advisable to eliminate LSO's, DOM Storage, and never allow any of these Flash, Java.. or other to store temp files on your system.. configurable through the properties of each one.. LSO's may take a little something more to get rid of...Hope this one is ready.. I just finished upgrading a PC thats offline for the most part...now I get to remove 16 and do 17..Also good idea to check for older versions of all these, in all the suspect places..especially on systems that haven't been re-installed recently.. especially on PC's who have had upgrades, restores, or recoveries..The older versions and registered files in your system can cause incompatibilities.. and more resources usage.. even with having the most recent installed.. and even with un-installing first.. may take some shredding or deletion.. and a registry cleaning..good to check your .DLL or plugn files versions.. and so on.. for browsers and system files..Anyway yeah lots of stuff about that ..LOL

Atasas
still, a physical and annoying fact remains... do or die!- and I hate updating anything :frusty: as such bring whole load issues related or not... as in moto: if it is not broken- no need to fix it! harpua
Funny, I had an Java 6 x86 update 18 on my system. Can't remember where I got that, might have been that site that automatically installs stuff for you. Anyway, reverted back down to 17 for now since I don't see it on the Java site. Administrator DKT27 Posted November 4, 2009 Administrator Share Posted November 4, 2009 Well I have no idea about this LSO's, DOM Storage. But tahnx for the addon Patrick744, I'll try it. :)
HX1
LSO's are little cookie files left behind when you run a Flash application in your browser or desktop.. It can store view settings and other information as well as other things.. I could explain DOM Storage but for some reason it evades me right now, but I believe it ( offf the top of my head ) to be something similar to storing of files like Java will do.. Also when you load a Flash Program in your browser, you can right click and set options for your installation, access to your microphone and and so on.. You can also shut off storage on your hard drive..In Java, you open the icon from your Control Panel.. and go through the settings.. You can disallow storage of temporary files for Java there as well, and delete any that may be stored.. I do this since I picked up to items there with ESS once about 2 years ago.. after that I keep nothing on my system.
Administrator DKT27 Posted November 4, 2009 Administrator Share Posted November 4, 2009 Thanx for the info.ANW I was successfully able to install it. I found on the site that I just needed to delete the last installation folder thingy. I did it. And I also did the CCleaner. In addition to it, I deleted the Application Data files. So now I'm on fully updated shockwave player and Java. :)BTW should I allow all the java files run in the background and startup? It's the files I always disallow, feelin that they are uselessly wastin my RAM.

It might take a lil bit extra time, but it's better than letting it do nothing in the background :)
HX1
The only thing I disable is the Update Checker.. and I do manually when I feel like it or I get a notification in several other places.. and here.. There should only be one that runs after that I think and it uses like nothing..( javaws.exe I think, shuts down after startup ) You may also want to navigate to your FF plugins folder and check the DLL files for version.. npjp2.dll, and npdeploytk.dll.. both should be current and if any others exist delete them..Morgan Multimedia Plug for JPEG2000 may have the same name but if so the file details will show it.. not sure if any one uses that too, but it can have the same name and be in the same or another location it just depends...
