The AchieVer
iPhone XS Beats All the Other iPhones in Terms of 4G Speeds Apple’s new iPhones may not sell like hot cakes, but this doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t bring significant upgrades in terms of hardware. Research conducted by OpenSignal in the United States, for example, shows that the iPhone XS generation is the fastest in terms of 4G speeds of all iPhones released between 2015 and 2017. The data pretty much speaks for itself, as the company found that the iPhone XS and XS Max are approximately 26 percent faster than all their predecessors, including even the iPhone X. Launched in 2017, iPhone X is the original notched-iPhone that pioneered features like Face ID in the iPhone lineup. It was also the first modern iPhone to launch without Touch ID. After testing all iPhones on multiple US carriers between October 26 and January 24, OpenSignal has discovered that iPhone XS Max is the fastest of all models with a top speed of 21.7 megabits per second. iPhone XS is very close behind with 20.5 Mbps, while iPhone XR is a little slower with 17.6 Mbps. iPhone X is fourth in the charts and slower than all 2018 iPhone models with 18.5 Mbps, according to the data.Don’t hold your breath for a 5G iPhoneMeanwhile, Apple is working on new iPhones that will go live in September without 5G support. Although it was originally speculated that the first 5G iPhone would debut in 2019, this plan has reportedly changed, and Cupertino pushed the target to 2020. This means there’s a good chance Apple will once again be late to the party, mostly as the first models with 5G support are going live this year. Samsung, for instance, will also launch a 5G version of the Galaxy S10 in the countries where such networks already exist. Apple probably decided to wait until 5G networks become more mainstream, choosing instead to stick with 4GB iPhones for one additional year in an attempt to avoid another price increase.
