Its strain on resources barely noticed here...

The Windows6.1-KB958559-x64.exe update matches that of the wzor leak earlier.

But I've got a xp image with Norwegian language now - so thanks for the update :)

Looks pretty dandy mate! ^_^

i partitioned my OS drive to be just right (6.5gig) to run Tiny7. Now you are making me wish i had set more free space to try this on. :pos:

Been using Windows XP Mode for about a month or two and I can say it serves its purpose greatly: running old softwares that aren't compatible with Windows 7.

What I like most about it is that you don't need to actually run the entire Virtual Machine in order to run your app inside Windows XP.

Windows XP Mode is able to virtualize only the app you want by providing shortcuts to the virtualized apps directly!

I think it's a must have!

Not for me but I use it as a sandbox when I want to run keygens with possible malware in them and it's been helpful in that regard.

I came to conclusion it will eat up your resources without testing it first...

Windows XP Mode works great, with a very little strain on resourses...

One of the things I like about it is than it allows you to run 16-bit applications once again.

64-bit Windows doesn't support 16-bit applications, but now we can use XP Mode to run them. ^_^

WOW! I'm so excited about XP mode. However, after installing it, I was so disappointed. The main reason is because I am currently using WMware. WMware has so many features that it made XP mode old. I thought XP mode would be better in that it is an XP running inside Win7 and using the actual hardware and not virtual hardware. The one in particular is the graphic card. Granted, WMware also uses virtual graphic card but it can get 32 bit of true color. XP mode has only 16 bit. As far as performance goes, I feel that WMware is faster too.

xp mode is xp installation inside Windows Virtual PC. Same thing as installing XP inside VMware. Normally for most applications you can just set the compatibility mode in file properties and it works but not not all apps work. The only 1 example I can give is for the application called WAMP. WAMP is not currently working correctly under native Windows 7, even in compatibility mode, it requires xp mode. I'm sure there might be other applications that require a virtual XP but the only one I use is WAMP so that's the only example I am sure about.

Waking a dead thread here but I remembered you mentioning it here.. Have yo successfully found a viable replacement app that works in 7 for WAMP? WAMP isn't essential but it would be nice to keep such a simple assembly for something that is never explained well in english..LOL.. or else I would put it together with more current versions and updates..( o atleast try anyway.. )

I gave up on that. I just do live installations to a subdomain chosen at random so nobody knows about the test site. When I'm done on the subdomain I just transfer the finished site to the real domain. I will not bother wasting my time trying to find a solution so I'm just waiting it out till a new version of wamp comes along. Check this solution though.

What is WMware?

I'm using Vmware workstation.. is that what you meant? is the XP mode better than VMware Workstation?
