I've been an avid user of uTorrent for years, but I accidently 'gave in' and upgraded - well, I wasn't impressed... So apart from everybody praising 2.2.1 (?) as the 'gold standard' of this piece of software, what is the most recent version that is stable and works pretty well for all concerned (yes, I know, 'universalism' is a somewhat difficult to achieve).

Thanks.

P.S. Sorry if this is wrong place to post this.

I know disable BitTorrent and uTorrent ads. Meaning BitTorrent ads + uTorrent ads. But what does it mean for you (BitTorrent now disabled)?

I'm not using the latest version any longer but for all of you that does follow these steps to get the clean file. (Do like this at every new released version).

1. Download from official site: http://download-hr.utorrent.com/track/stable/endpoint/utorrent/os/windows
2. Add .zip so file is named utorrent.exe.zip
3. Open in WinRAR and extract file Carrier.EXE
4. Rename Carrier.EXE to uTorrent.exe
5. Then just overwrite your old uTorrent.exe at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe

Does anyone know if this method continues to working well? My interest is simply to have the lightest version of utorrent without the disgusting advertising.
I'm still with an older version (v2.2.1) and have looked according to the explanations and when I've looked at the step
 5. Then just overwrite your old uTorrent.exe at C:Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe
I do not see the executable of my utorrent, only the typical configuration files. I guess i must overwrite the executable found in: C:\Program Files (x86)\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe

Can you confirm all this, greetings and thank you in advance.

Yes, this method still works. And yes, in your case you can overwrite the exe in Program Files (x86)\uTorrent (I think it works, but if not just move the exe to Roaming\uTorrent).

I think older versions (such as 2.2.1) the default installation folder is: C:\Program Files (x86)\uTorrent

But in later versions (starting from maybe 3.0, I don't know the exact version number when they changed it) the default installation folder is: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent

It's just because the softwares used to make the tools have signatures similar to that of trojans and hence get classified as threats when they are not.

I am using the tool just like hundreds and thousands of others like me!

It's safe because it's being used by a large community of dedicated educationists, who want to further science and technology and make softwares better than ever!

If it were not the case, the makers of the software would have been exposed and the tools banned from forums!
