Kali_Yuga911
This is a long frustrating story folks, sorry. So, last year my six-year-old trusty laptop's motherboard died. Local repair shop said they could fix it. I got it home and it turned on- great. Turned it off- it's dead again. They take it back...well four months later they tell me they just don't know what is wrong so they offer me an "identical laptop" (it was not identical, it had an older O.S with an old school bios and 4gb of ram less) I told them I wanted *my* OS (an OEM win 8 upgraded to 8.1) on the laptop and expected them to either put my hard disk in or clone it. I bought the laptop and took mine back with it's dead mobo. So fast forward a few months, I have to replace the keyboard, replace the wifi card and replace the screen due to hot and dead pixels... Okay so now I'm comfortable mucking around with the guts of a laptop. That stuff is fun to me and I could do it for hours. But, BUT! Those barstards put an *illegal copy of windows 8.1 pro on the replacement laptop I purchased!* Did I know that? NO! Not until I saw the "your windows is borked" message. I had no idea what it was until I looked it up- they put an enterprise edition on with kmspico...you can just imagine how honked off I was. Now I'm not saying pirating software is a bad thing; some people simply cannot afford some programs- especially an old pensioner such as myself. However, a pirated OS is not something I want to deal with nor would I have agreed to it if they would have told me they were putting it on a laptop to sell me. Just today I am getting the "activate windows" alert on my desktop again. I had them "fix" it once already and I am not interested in letting them "fix" it again. I do not want to upgrade to win 10 because of the forced updates and telemetry and want to stick with win 8.1 (8.1 pro because of those idiots). There's one good thing about win 8.1 pro- it has group policy editor and a slightly more robust powershell. I'd appreciate any guidance you can give me to end this periodic "activate windows" sheit; believe me, I am truly angry about this whole thing. WindowsAddict
here's a thing, there is no difference in working of a pirated os and a genuine os, so pls stop worrying about pirated os, you can enjoy it without any problem, the thing you need to take care when using pirated os is the activator's av's detection. and you need to properly set exclusion's for it in your av. you didn't do that, that's why you are getting activate windows alert. try the activation script in my sig, it doesn't have any av's detection and you don't need to set exclusion for it.
