What steps / software is needed to downgrade the HP Pavilion 15-auO32ng from Win 10 to Win 7 and before you ask why, read this Don't use Windows 10 - It's a privacy nightmare

Hi,

Its a 6 gen Intel processor so it should work with Windows 7 but you will have to hunt for the drivers because HP only provide them for Windows 10...

To install Windows 7 its simpler to change the BIOS/UEFI configuration and put Secure Boot disabled and set the UEFI mode do CSM.

When installing Windows 7 vanilla DVD using a flash drive make sure you use the USB2 port to boot from because the USB3 ports will fail.

While downgrading (or even upgrading,) from the long-term point of view, it's wise to perform a full and clean reinstall.

You can use Win 10 LTSB instead. It has zero spying policy.

Just downgraded my Asus K401u from win 10 to win 7, it was a very long process for me, lots of problems encountered during the process....

i used Rufus to create bootable USB flash drive , and do install a wireless/ LAN driver and back up to the usb drive before proceeding to format to win7, as usually the Win7 image will not come with the drivers pre-installed.

you may need to change the BIOS settings so that the bootable USB can be recognized,

in the BIOS settings, enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module (CSM) , set SATA controller to AHCI, disable Secure Boot

and for those laptop using Skylake based processor, you will need to go to http://www.asrock.com/microsite/win7install/ to download the patch and patch it in order to be able to use both USB 2 and 3.0, if not you will encounter "No device drivers were found." error after the windows 7 setup screen.

but the downside is now my touch pad is not working, as the driver couldn't be successfully installed for some reasons . . .

Do hit me up if you need more information on the process as my laptop was also Win 10 pre-installed, and the Asus websites only have drivers for win 10, but i managed to reformat to win7.

I would use google etc to search for Synaptics Touch Pad Driver for Win 7

have you try Driverpack Solution

enable expert mode and go to setting to disable unneeded features and installation esp diagnostic scheduler every restart

not the best app but almost no problem in my experience

it is better to uninstall any touchpad related driver before trying to install new one

Some of those who replied had misunderstood me, because my friend did not intend to install the Windows 7 over the Win 10 because it was clear that only a reinstallation was possible. The problem with this computer was that shortly after booting from the Win 7 USB Stick an error message came that a required USB 3 driver was missing. After a long search, he had found the driver with which he managed to install Windows 7 while 10 was still on the computer. The result of that way was, that Win 7 was installed on partition D which was supposed to be a data partition, so it was way too big for a system partition. After spending several days working with the Win 7, he was very pleased. His only problem was the partition chaos and I suggested that I could integrate the driver into the ISO so he could repeat the installation which would give him the option to delete the partitions during installation and then re-create them in the desired size.

I have taken his Intel(R)_USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver_5.0.4.43_v2 driver, extracted the contents

of the installer. After that I integrated this 3 drivers

using NTLite into a copy of my working Win 7 ISO . From this ISO a USB stick was created with Rufus.

If he boots from this stick, there is no longer an error message that the USB driver is missing, but the installation remains stuck at about this point and I'm afraid that I forgot something to integrate.

Any hint / help?

@Togijak I would suggest to make a fully updated Win 7 iso with Simplix Pack. It will integrate the usb 3.0 and 3.1 drivers also. I am sharing the method which I use and also other file. Use Original MSDN iso files X64 OR X86

I never would use something else, that's why I was using my Win 7 ISO which comes direct from MS with a VL key (I have to use a German Windows for him)

That problem

was my fault, I had not integrated the USB drivers in both WIM files. A new ISO from which a USB stick was created worked without problems
