Kalju
There is nothing wrong, at least I cant find nothing. Did You mean this - every person has the right to live like he wants, but the prisoners should not be treated badly.

vitorio
In one you lost your liberty in the other you are free. Consider this, before you decide. Freedom is not free.

nir
Yeah, some in Norway and Sweden commit a crime just to get such an attractive living arrangement, a friend from Sweden says. A full belly and a warm bed beats an empty belly and freezing outside with the concept of liberty found in some books.
Kalju
@nir agree. That's true. That's how some people do. Many do something bad to get to jail where is clean linen and warm food.

You obviously have never been in a county jail in the U.S. Plastic cover over the mattress, no sheets or blankets and a pillow with no pillowcase. Food is cold cuts and bread with a glass of koolaid at lunch. Breakfast is a piece of bacon and a spoonful of scrambled eggs and a piece of bread. If you put your cup on the bars a trusty will fill it up with coffee. Supper can be a number of things, none of which is plentiful or good. Forgot too, they give you a plastic spoon and a styrofoam cup. Lose or destroy it and you don't get a replacement. When you are released they expect them back or you are charged for them. One toilet for 16 guys (cell had 16 beds) and every third day they take you out to get a shower, and then you put your dirty clothes back on. You might live like this for days, weeks, or months depending on why you are being held. Some jails provide jump suits but a lot of the smaller counties just let you wear whatever you were detained in. And in the county jails there is no TV, radio, sports, time out of the cell, nor any other amenity. You just sit in your cell 24 hours a day with the 15 other guys and do nothing. But you learn a lot of cool stuff, like how to make a stove out of toilet paper and how to scrounge up cups and a large can so you can get extra coffee in the morning, save it, and heat it up at night. And a lot of other really neat things, like where to stick a knife in a person for a quick kill, how to break a man's neck or kill him with one blow to the face, etc.
Kalju
@straycat19 - You're right, it's true, I have not been there, have not even heard of it before. I personally live in Europe, here are things a bit different.
dcs18
Imagine also . . . . . the house in Brazil (second photo) being the one allotted to prisoners — with the lovely open-door policy.

vitorio
i As an Argentinian singer and writer, Alberto Cortez, says in one paragraph of his song "Ni poco...ni semasiado" (Neither little nor too much) No siempre está satisfecho el hombre con lo que tiene. Si muchos son los derechos, muchos también los deberes. Ni poco ni demasiado, todo es cuestión de medida. He is not always satisfied the man with what he has. If there are many rights, Many also he duties. Neither little nor too much, everything is a matter of measure. Jordan
Difference between prisons is not only because of the high/low living standards. it's an important part in this matter but other things make big difference too. - Some countries have applied international human rights standards protecting prisoners more than others - Correctional system is also continuously watched and investigated by concerned instances. - Separate facilities for different categories of prisoners based on the severity of the crime ...and much more If you investigate more on the subject, you will find decent and luxurious prisons even in poor countries, and of course, trash prisons even in some other rich ones. In facts, the most revolting thing (for me) in this matter is to see a prisoner who raped and killed a child enjoying himself and sunbathing in a luxurious prison, even if he is a norwegian vip! Well put. But the role of prisons is not just to punish criminals and protect the society from them, but also, if fact more, to be a deterrent to aspiring law-breakers. And I wonder what discouragement e.g. a poor immigrant out of a job living in Norway feels when he learns of prison conditions. In fact, if I were in his position, I’d try to rob a bank. If I succeed, I’ll become rich. If I get caught, I’ll live in good conditions of accommodation, food and luxuries.
