Hitman6267
Hi, i downloaded emule but i have no idea how to download the files posted in the verified hashes. Is there a how to use for emule that some one can post a link to ? Mine isn't connecting to KAD it just says connecting and stays like that... so may be in the "how to" i would know how to fix and actualy know what is KAD.My second question, how can i know if my ISP has a newsgroup server ? From what i can figure my internet provider is www.gds.com.lb and i get internet via TerraNet ( i pay TerraNet that gets the broadband access from GDS, thats what i figured ) How can i know if they have a free NewsGroup access. Are newsgroups legal things ? I mean can i ask them via email ? or are NewsGroup illegal. They have to be legal if some ISPs give access to them right ? Myrak
Verified hashes are easy. After you've installed eMule, just click the hash link in the forums, if you don't have eMule open, it should open it for you (or it'll ask first, then open it) and if you look under the transfers button the hashlink you clicked should be downloading. You must be connected to a server to download though. Go to the servers button, and choose Byte Devils or Donkey Server No1 or something. (If someone could fill me in on some safe, reliable servers that'd be cool). After you've connected to a few sources through the servers, click the 'Kad' button at the top, and find the 'Bootstrap' button and click that. It'll hook you into the Kademlia network via the sources on the servers.Just play around with it and you'll get the hang of it.-- As for newsgroups, yes they are legal, just like P2P. They have legit uses. They were originally used for discussion before the World Wide Web came along (the WWW is kinda like a GUI for Usenet). You could try googling your ISP + newsgroup address or something. Typical ISP servers are something like "news.ispname.com". You could also send an email, nothing wrong with that. The thing is, ISP newsgroup servers usually have low retention and don't list ALL the groups. For example, my ISP (Telstra Bigpond over here in Australia) lists hardly any binaries groups (where people post all the movies/music/appz etc) and if they do there's hardly any articles.Have fun. Hitman6267
I can never get a good speed with emule. Is it just my link with sources ? Or does me not sharing any file affect in some way ?
nsane
yeah, not sharing will do it, as most fast downloads are done by users you have credits with (ie. you've uploaded something to em). so if you're not sharing no one shares with you, basiclly ;)
