Use NTFS Drive Protection by sordum

https://www.sordum.org/8117/ntfs-drive-protection-v1-5/

You can write protect your whole usb or any specific folder.

It is also useful for anyone to prevent virus infection in usb by write protecting root folder.

There is one caveat that needs to be remembered when using software, anything made by man can be broken by man.  So if someone really wants access to your data they will figure out a way to get to it.  If I just want to write protect a drive I buy drives with a write protect switch, like the Kanguru drives.

I use True Crypt to encrypt my USB drive's, but if you want something simpler try GiliSoft USB Encryption, as this use's 256-bits AES on-the-fly encryption. If you want a lifetime licence PM me.

Anyone can format usb or hdd if they want, you cant prevent it no matter which software you use.

although i guess some special designed expensive usb can be really secure and users can't format it.

anyway, to prevent malware infection in usb, NTFS Drive Protection  software is enough.

Dear Vinnu,

First of all, you conversation with forum (The world) not in home.

You joked by your PAN DRIVE, but you still use PAN, PAN, PAN.

So please, be sincere with yourself.

Every pen drive / hdd /sdd [every storage tool] use RAM not ROM. So when you use any storage device, anyone can format it.

If you need to secure your data forever, you must use DVD and you can set a password for use. [DVD life may 5-10 years?] If you have huge data you can zip this data and divide in small parts and then you write in DVD. If you have Blue-ray write, you use it.

I think, some software have solution for you [To write-protected USB with password which not allowed to format usb]. But every trick has a solution. You also googling for this topic.

It's quite likely that your AntiVirus already has some robust options for write-protecting . . . . . and much more.

My previous NOD32 had some lovely options — my present ESET Endpoint has some superior options which I use in the Enterprise environment.

Even without software also you can do it.

format your pendrive with ntfs partition.

now right click the pendrive

go to properties - security tab - edit - remove all the users

Now Click add - advanced - Find now - select everyone - OK - now select deny for write - click ok - ok

Thats it.

Now your pendrive is read only. if u want to make write then tick full control under allow.

Thanks DKT27 for point out 'new member', I am really forget when I post second post for Vinnu. But I am not know that Vinnu is very sensitive. [Because he have not post any comment after my/our (disrespectful) post/s, regarding his problem.]

So, please Vinnu, post a comment (& forgive)! :fun:
