Congrats Biz on giving non-factual information!

Jaundice, which is also known by the name icterus, is caused by hyperbilirubinemia. Icterus is not another name for hyperbilirubinemia.

Please in future know what you are on about before typing :P

FYI I don't engage in health topics I know nothing about.

Hyperbilirubinemia is a condition in which there is too much bilirubin in the blood. When red blood cells break down, a substance called bilirubin is produced. This is called hyperbilirubinemia. Because bilirubin has a pigment or coloring, it causes a yellowing of the baby's skin and tissues. This is called jaundice.

So jaundice / icterus / hyperbilirubinemia... it's all the same.

Blame the yellow pigmentation :rolleyes:
