AMD GPIO and GPIO for Promontory--What are they?

I'm trying to play around with some driver settings. I'm having an issue when I record with my microphone, it is extremely choppy. I had a hell of a time trying to figure out the chipset drivers, for some reason. I think I finally have things under control with installing them correctly, but I did notice the AMD GPIO and the AMD GPIO (for Promontory) drivers in the list of drivers to install. When I first installed the drivers, I excluded them and didn't have any missing drivers show up in my device manager. Then my graphics started to act funny, so I updated the graphics driver to the recommended version and left the GPIO drivers checked as well. I would just like to know if I really need these drivers or if I can uninstall them. Same goes for any other driver on the AMD list that I may not need. Unfortunately, I have to keep the AMD settings because my GPU uses a lot of power, so I need to keep it to max out the power limit.
