Radpop
Windows Defender is very good. If you want the best, use Bitdefender, you can test it free for 6 months: https://www.bitdefender.com/media/html/consumer/new/get-total-security2018-opt/ It's fully compatible with Windows 10, 8, 7 - 32/64 bit. Nastrahl
Voodoo Shield takes a lot of CPU when scanning here (maybe I didn’t set it right when I tried it ?). I would recommand Comodo, SEP or Windows Defender especially since it got EMET integration (and they are all free).

What I like with SEP, is that you can set it to only scan files on write, not always on read like with WD.

shrinivas
Just use Windows Defender. But be careful which websites you visit, programs you install, and use of pen drives from others ! I have experience of getting virus even after installing anti-virus. I usually have one partition with Linux installed where I check pen drives from others for virus before using it in windows. I've read RAM-comparers writings about heaviness of some antiviruses from many forums. Still, I wonder why 360TS in the only AV I can use in my XP with 0,5 GB RAM. Most of antiviruses don't even start or when they are started, I can't do anything. These RAM-comparers have broad consensus that 360TS is one of the heaviest on your planet. ? Own performance test is the best test! Run it real environment. Backup is recommended before testing 3rd party antiviruses. Some well detecting antiviruses are free: Avira free, Kaspersky free, Bitdefender free, Windows Defender, Tencent PC Manager, Avast free...
