Millennials blame boomers for ruining their lives

"...CAN''T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG ?..."

Beset by big college loans, inheriting two wars, and facing an uncertain future of work, a majority of millennials say baby boomers have made things worse for them — and a lot of boomers agree, according to a new Axios/SurveyMonkey poll.

Why it matters: If it persists, the generational divide could turn into political rivalry as the generations compete for limited tax dollars — millennials seeking government help as automation takes hold, and boomers insisting on promised levels of Social Security and Medicare.

The poll found that 51% of millennials (18- to 34-year-olds) blame boomers (51- to 69-year-olds) for making things worse for their generation. Just 13% said boomers had improved things. Generation X wasn't pleased with the boomers, either.

Boomers were split on the issue: 30% said policies created by their generation had made things worse, 32% said they had made things better, and 34% that they had done neither.

Among suggested ways to improve matters now, millennials said:

"Remove all old government officials and term limits for the House and Congress," a 34-year-old male Republican said.

A number said "Impeach Trump" and "vote."

"Sleep more because you will be less sensitive to negative emotions," said a 22-year-old female Democrat.

In another generational divide, millennials are much less confident in their fiscal responsibility than their elders: 56% of millennials said they are "extremely" or "very" responsible in how they manage their money, compared with 80% of those 70 years old and more.

Methodology: This new Axios/SurveyMonkey online poll was conducted April 9-13 among 4,638 adults in the United States.

The modeled error estimate is 2 percentage points.

Data have been weighted for age, race, sex, education, and geography using the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey to reflect the demographic composition of the United States age 18 and over.

You can blame Capitalism actually. This was always going to happen. Constantly fighting over wages and profit..

What a sickening way for Humanity to evolve.

yea we should go back to the good old days when the rich of the world had the power of life and death over their subjects...oh what fine days they were indeed...unless you were not among the very few  privileged rich...then life kind of sucked bigtime

The newest generation can always blame the previous generation for their problems, but actually when you point the finger at someone you have three pointing back at you.  Meaning you are responsible for your own deplorable life.  The decisions you make over the years determine where your life is going, if you don't like it then change it.  One thing millennials do without a problem is blame everyone else for all their problems and as a generation they are all failures.

@straycat...not all but a significant number for sure... not too many of them any kind of sense of that they  are responsible for their own success...or failure ... i would like to think my two kids are an exception to that line of thinking.... both are happy and doing what they want in life and fully understand they are in charge of how their life goes

it is called sarcasm...:D and communism was not the worker's utopia at any time in anyway shape form..so capitalism despite its drawbacks has done more for the common ...but, truth be told the common man had to take by threat and  force the rich were not willing to give us

The next generation that will follow Millennials will also blame them for their fate..

Competing for limited dollars... when during our day the monthly wages were just $30/month and here you are happily spending more than $600 to buy another iphone, subscription to $125/month fiber optic connection (use only for video chat and sexting) and another $XXX for calls and text subscription (for flirting and social networking bullshits).
Stop buying useless garbage and start building and innovate things that could make work easy.
Or, start planting or repairing machines that still is cheaper to run and operate than computerized shits that will costs you fortunes of maintainance.
Back in our days, we don't have computers to aide us in our design to innovate tools and yet we were able to made them WITHOUT A 3D PRINTER!
