Betts1964
Has anyone ever built a laptop before? If yes, what parts are going to be needed? Also, which is easier to make a laptop or a desktop. TIA

debebee
Desktop Rig wil be easier unless you find a basic laptop rig and try to upgrade it yourself.. If you start from scratch, that will be a problem finding parts for a laptop Maybe better looking for parts for a SMALL FORM FACTOR desktop

debebee
https://rjtech.com/shop/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=220 IMHO you could get other brands with similar specs and price.. Not sure about after sales of this brand too..
Alanon
IMHO, unless portability is crucial to you, a desktop PC is much more cost-effective and much easier to build. I find that desktop parts are cheaper, more available and more diverse, assembly and troubleshooting are much easier, and you have the option of saving up for a better/larger monitor and peripherals down the road. With a laptop, you're stuck with the screen and shell of the donor machine.
debebee
Get a DESKTOP if you want the best bang for your buck.. UNLESS PORTABILITY is the PRIMARY REASON you are getting a PC, them go for a LAPTOP, and get the model you can afford for your needs. Upgrading that over time will be a headache because of (1) Poor Availability over time.(2) LAPTOP PARTS at least twice the cost of the desktop parts.. The only way to build a laptop is buying one and replace the hardware . but then you can only use the parts that are made for it . A desktop gives you more options and you can change it how and where you want , but you have to know what you are doing or you are going to loose a lot of money and end up with parts you can't use or don't generate the power you expected. It takes a lot of research to build a pc . don't get fooled by people who make it look easy . the building is simple but choosing the right parts is not simple because even the sellers of the parts don't tell you what specs are better .they produce a lot of variations and hope you buy it . that way you keep on buying . the parts you need are the parts you can find in every machine . basic : motherboard . cpu or gpu + cooler ram drives powersupply computer case screen sata cables . more : graphic card wifi card fans dvd drive usb ports But if you have nothing in mind of what you want or don't care than it is easy , easier than making a laptop and better in all ways except portability Yes, I have already built my current desktop. I was just curious about my future laptop. thx 3 hours ago, vertical said:
