eurotrash
hi all, my friend has an acer laptop and when he attempted to preform a clean format, the windows 10 installation told him that partition was unavailable because it is a gpt partition. however, if he attempts to boot windows without the usb, it tells him no boot device. is there any way he can convert the gpt to mbr? it does not give him the option of recovery options. any ideas? thx in advance! ps sorry for the bad spelling, this computer doesn't work very well, lol

dezsez
Might be worth trying disabling the UEIF in SECURITY in the bios, then try doing a clean install.
eurobyn
If you have a boot disk or stick from acronis then you can choose add a new disk en there you can choose to set it as gpt or mbr

Sylence
lol you just ruined everything. R.I.P because it's simple to convert GPT to MBR but to do it the other way you will need to clean format your entire HDD. It would be a LOT wiser to install Windows 10 using UEFI on GPT than converting your HDD to MBR. GPT has a lot of advantages, specially for recovery purposes. you could simply use something like Rufus to create a UEFI Windows installation flash drive, you were trying to install Windows 10 using BIOS that's why your GPT partition was unavailable.
