Betts1964
Hi, I have an asus x550za laptop and i was thinking on upgrading the cpu in it. Which intel I5 7th gen, including socket, would fit into it? TIA
jbleck
U're better off buying a new laptop. A new socket comes with a new motherboard... U can't switch from AMD to Intel without a new motherboard (as far as i know).

I meant to say I have an asus x550za laptop and i was thinking on upgrading the cpu in it. It has an amd a10-7400 now. Which cpu is an upgrade from that? I am hoping for the equivalent of an I5 -7th gen. but it cant upgrade it as you guys say. oh well. thx though.

mclaren85
Is it an AMD powered laptop? No intel cpu will be compatible. sorry.
WALLONN7
@bergy1964 Your laptop leaves the factory with the following processors ( socket BGA ( FP3 ): AMD APU A10-7400P = there's no better cpu compatible; AMD APU A8-7200P = there's the above for upgrade. The point at which I see the need to touch is this: even if your laptop is equipped with the second processor, I see no real need for an upgrade - even though I ignore your real motivations for that consideration. My wife's laptop, whose processor is "inferior" to your - APU A8-4500M - behaves very well in all tasks to which it is submitted, and we are not talking about simple things like internet browsing and composition of texts . Even in mainstream games it does not leave much to be desired... unless of course I compare it to my personal game machine... which would be nonsense!!!
