Actually, there are many fake "senseis" who hang a sign with some chinese  or japanese symbols, callig it the "dojo" and teaching some simplified so called "martial arts". They even give out colored belts with "certifications". Probably kids have a good time learning but it's mostly useless!

Considering 90% of brawl's (fighting) happening between untrained individuals and not necessarily matched in weight, age or physical abilities category-

Aikido is great.

Don't go looking for fights, and you won't get "beat up." :boxing:

Unfortunately nowadays random unprovoked attacks can happen almost anywhere. Just today I watched a video in a British newspaper of such an attack on a man standing on a railway platform one evening in Manchester, England. Three scumbags attacked him for "fun" and beat him unconscious. They then continued to kick and stamp on his head and body while he was unconscious. They walked away a few yards, then came back and dragged the unconscious man by one of his legs into the middle of the platform where they continued kicking him on the head and body. A train pulled into the station on the opposite track and the driver jumped out of his cabin and shouted at them. They stood and bayed at the driver like the animals they are and then ran off as the driver called the police. The attack lasted more than 4 minutes and the victim was kicked over 100 times!!! He has suffered a brain bleed, broken ribs and crushed eye socket among other injuries. The cowards have been arrested thanks to the public response to the video...they were 15 years old!!!!

He wasn't "looking for trouble"...and it could have been you, or me or anyone who was the victim.

Call me a barbarian, but I find a good kick between the legs of these creatures is more effective than Aikido, Karate, or Kung Fu.:mellow::mellow:

Here's the link to the Police video footage. Please don't watch if you're easily upset, it really is very bad.

Today, learning or practicing martial art is more about self discipline, soul searching, exercising, etc. than self defense.

I'm average height, 5 foot 8 inches and was slim built in my youth and played a lot of football, hence I developed a really ferocious shot with my right foot. However being slim also meant that I could run fast and I made use of that when big bearded hairy tattooed guys were after me!! lol:D:D:D

I just noticed that the "Like, thanks etc" button is missing from the video I posted at the top of the page.

I just want to make clear that when I read the report in the newspaper the attackers had not been identified..you cannot tell by the poor quality of the CCT footage what they looked like or what nationality or ethnic background they had. My anger was because of the nature of the vicious attack and it doesn't make any difference if they are Asian attackers (as was later discovered when arrested), white attackers, green attackers or cowboys...the only thing that matters is that delinquents are the enemies of all society and our courts have to get tougher with them. I am only prejudiced against bigots!!

What a noob I am...I just realized that OBVIOUSLY the "Like, thanks, etc" button doesn't appear on our own posts...lol:D:D:D
