I fking HATE GoDaddy!

I'm so pissed at Godaddy I can't even calmly write an informative post here. Those idiots refuse to click a damn button to save my life here. All I ask them to do is enable SPF in their SMTP servers so that my emails dont end up in junk mail but apparently that's asking for too much. The jackass tech support tells me

When you are sending messages to another address and the receiving address marks your message as spam or sends it to their bulk folder, this would be due to the settings that are applied with the recipient's email provider. You would need to contact the receiving email provider to see what they can do to have your messages be sent to the inbox of the intended recipients. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
... well no shit sherlock it's obvious the receiving server flags it as spam when your dumbass smtp server refused to add the spf tag to help authenticate the email as legitimate.

What a fking useless company! In all my life as being a customer there they haver NEVER solved a single support request, NONE, zero, all they do is send back the same thing I told them typed a different way and stating the obvious things. They should just get rid of the entire Godaddy tech support team as they are useless. You know how lazy and incompetent you have to be to refuse to click a button to fix a problem? According to them I must blame Yahoo and Microsoft servers and ask them to make a special exception for mail from my domain because I should be allowed to send emails without obeying the antispam standards; yes I would like to think that I am special too but I can't believe those idiots at Godaddy expect me to ask MSN and Yahoo to make a special exception for me to be allowed to break the rules.:badmood:

So now I still have the initial problem where every potential customer using MSN, Yahoo, and probably Gmail will never receive mails from me unless they check their spam folder. It looks stupid having to use Gmail's smtp server to send emails from my business domain but that is the only work around I have at the moment.

You know I have run across this problem in the past with site support, and customer support. The problem comes when these companies address customer service issues with 'Form Letters'. Its like they have a thousand brainless monkeys sitting behind a screen hitting enter pertaining to the problem and they send this type of response while the issue gets escalated and they lose customers, members, and support...Same thing on the phone...

Most of the time they will bounce responsibility around making it not their responsibility, therefore they can't be targeted legally or for any other reason from either side. This is basically a shirk-out so that they do not spend huge costs on support, and do nothing more than just sit there and rake in the money. They want something that is virtually maintenance free and something that will protect them from damages and extended costs..Unfortunately the methods and actions taken usually have the wrong priorities in mind and dis-regard all things relative to building clientèle faith, or prestige as a professionally represented company, which in long run is good business and helps it grow, instead of relying on sensationalism and advertising..rendering huge turn-over in the clientèle base.. Technically this can show a little bit of an under-site on their behalf.. While they get to rake in contract agreements...they miss several aspects by doing demographic studies and concentrating their efforts towards the big numbers...Which technically winds up being the wrong choice, for survival and strength..on down the road.. since that actually..is not the area that needs the work...to making a strong resolve..

LOL.. Just like granny's strawberry preserves.. they used to be fresh and good for you.. all natural ingredients and a dollar a jar.. now they are full of junk, taste like candy, and cost 5 times as much..

Very large scale company who is completely out of touch with their customers needs...

Can you keep your domain or do a redirect if you leave? or change service?

Man you would not believe how hard it is to stop payments to online services like this once you start. They always have some hidden nonsense and when you think it's over you get your credit card bill and you are still paying for things you can't even use, LOL. Plus godaddy (wild west domains) owns more than 80% of the market share and they are massive resellers so when you think you are getting with another company it is more likely they are just a reseller for the same godaddy services. :(

Well that's really sad. I'm still unknown to GoDaddy. I have heard it's a domain hoster right?

I believe in No-IP.com .. Unless you are using a Virtual Server then I would say just change services..but your not then finding a service to host it on would be a little different..

with your flag im assuming you are outside the usa. so i dont know what rules the credit card companies have for your nation that you are in. here you could cancel and tell the credit card company it was cancel to have them (somewhat) fight for you if they keep charging you stuff afterwards.

without knowing your needs and such, why not ysomething like yahoo or gmail? are you wanting it to be like a isp email that comes when you ask it with outlook etc? pop3 i think its called.

Well the point here is that he owns a business, and in this type of setup, it is better to respond with an address directly connected to your website.. plus it should be easier to manage..all in one place and connected as it should be.. 'physically'... The problems is that the server from GoDaddy will not add an identifier to the email.. Therefore if he was to send you an email.. it would go to your spam folder, because it comes from a server/site. So when he sends a response to you.. registration confirmation.. or anything f the sort it may be declined by your servers ( Yahoo..MSN.. w/e ) flagged as spam because of the way it is created.. and you may either never see it.. or it can go into a spam folder you don't bother even looking at or get automatically deleted.. What he is trying to do is get them to simply turn on a simple function of the SMTP server.. so the identifier will be added so that e-mail arrives in your inbox.. not bouncing off filters, or causing a drop in the service in which he offers to his customers...and creating a negative effect...

So he spent a bunch of wasted time for a head-on-a-stick to just repeat itself.. and ultimately fail.. People not qualified to do the job they are sit there to do.. or as an effect of what I mentioned above..Therefore creating the side-effect..

He is not looking for an account where he can access it through IMAP, SMTP, or POP3..or anything.. ( though he may be looking for that regardless.. its not the issue here ) that would be client side issues with account hosts who charge for the service..Which I suggest to everyone out there that there are plenty of alternatives for...

Is your site hosted by GoDaddy or just your domain?

Which mail error codes are you getting?

I buy the domains from godaddy and email accounts but the sites are hosted elsewhere. It's not any error codes, the email sends, just that it always lands in the junk mail folder. I test it on msn and yahoo and both land in junk instantly. :( I can't use my ISP smtp server as they have forbidden its use unless you buy a static IP from them, my isp is now hosting their emails with google so they have less problems to deal with. If I use gmail smtp to send mail using the same accounts it works perfectly but then in the message people will see it was sent from my personal gmail account and if they click reply to all, it will send to my personal account too which I want to avoid.

If you don't want people to see your personal gmail account, create a new one :)

Also, if you don't want gmail to store a copy of incoming mails, you can easily set it.

Settings > Forwarding > Forward a copy of incoming mail to [your email address] and [delete Gmail's copy]

You should check whether RDNS is enabled for the mail server, if it isn't we can pretty much assume that is the cause of the spam problem.

Nah man, just buy domains from them, they are useless otherwise. The thing is they control a massive really huge market share when it comes to domains, which is why they are the only place you can get domains for 7 and 8 dollars per year, lol. That's if you have time to remember to use the promo codes when you renew them else you get raped by full price. :D If you want to pay a standard frozen low price each year then you could check out some of their reseller websites like cheapdomain.com, they offer domains for 7.99/yr with price freeze so you never really have to worry about renewal fee killing you. That's the cheapest Godaddy reseller I know of.

You should check whether RDNS is enabled for the mail server, if it isn't we can pretty much assume that is the cause of the spam problem.

That's the problem exactly, they don't give you access to those options. Other hosts give the options to enable DomainKeys and Sender Policy Framework but everything you want from Godaddy you have to email them and beg for it, if you could get a letter from the governor of California it might help your case, lol. RDNS I assume to do the same as DomainKeys but those are for spam checking on received mail not so? My problem is with their smtp servers not enabling the SPF tag on outgoing mail.

I think I may have found the solution to my problem.

Update 3: Reader Derek Bennett says, "The solution is to go into your gmail Settings:Accounts and "Make default" an account other than your gmail account. This will cause gmail to re-write the From field with whatever the default account's email address is."

GoDaddy still sucks bigtime but atleast thanks to this guy for posting this solution, I will do this and use gmail as my smtp server from now on.

I'm going to give it a try.:D
