I do not know the lightest but Avira Antivirus (free) is light on resources.

The cloud based antivirus will be the lightest, e.g, Webroot Secure Anywhere (WSA).
In my experience WSA is the lightest. Panda uses more resources by comparison.

You are totally wrong! Don't look only RAM consumption, performance is how fast computer does his jobs.

Panda is good, but not the lightest. Secondly, Webroot isn't even antivirus. It could be light, but it's lazy, and it have failed badly in latest tests as this one:

At default (or, even custom) settings — Windows Defender.

At custom settings — almost any AntiVirus can be configured to run light.

hi bro long time ,

even i've switched windows defender after seeing impressive results from recent tests from AV-TEST and AV-COMPARATIVES

would you mind sharing  the custom settings ?

i've liked the previous lockdown mode you did in my OLD PC , now its ageing and is about to be dead.

thanks and regards

Totally agree with you, WSA IS Plus is lightest, background running about 0% cpu and 4 mb ram

Hello kantry123!

Sorry for the delay — seem to have missed your query.

I've switched-over to ESET Endpoint Antivirus (thanks to vyzzer) — Windows Defender is no longer on any of my systems.

Windows Defender does not give the User much to configure on its GUI — however, one can find some essential configurations, via Group Policy.

Seems pretty reasonable resource-consumption for such an aggressive AV like ESET Endpoint Antivirus (EEA):

Is Windows Defender good enough with your custom settings?

Hi Pegasus!

With my custom settings, Windows Defender turned out to be better than I thought it would.

However, the reason I switched-over to ESET Endpoint was because the external device scanning of Windows Defender was found to be lacking.
