Not all the site, you would be receiving those message on only SSL/https/encrypted pages.

What to do, first make sure your system date and time are up-to-date.

If that's alright, it might be that other programs which filter your browser traffic is not integrated properly, example of these can be ESET(with web scan), Kaspersky IS, AdGuard or any other depending on the ones installed in your system.

So if you provide more info with what is monitoring your browser traffic, maybe people can help.

Thanks guys.  Yes I'm using Ad-guard and Eset Endpoint Security.   Just a note; With Win Explorer all sites, URLs work fine

Restart Firefox in safe mode and try... is every site opening?! Addons installed?! Restart Firefox in normal mode and disable them all... Restart it if required...

Enable one by one and do tests...

Most sites open, but they open with a strange format.. no graphics, just an outline of all the subjects. Never saw this before.   I'm going to restart in the safe mode and see what happens.

I've not added or removed add-ons.

A screenshot of a webpage with the error would be appreciated.

Try reinstalling adguard certificate, if problem pertains disable and then re-enable eset web scanning.

OK... I followed all the instructions above, and now it appears to be working again.... I think the suggestion by Radpop did the trick.

Thank you all for responding and your help with this issue.   Nsane is the only place to get real professional assistance that works.

Thank you again..

Using a high-end ad. blocker such as AdGuard with HTTPS filtering disabled doesn't make sense — it's one of the unique capabilities which most other ad. blockers lack. ;)

Just a tip do avoid moderation: do not say thanks and things like that... click on "heart" button and express yourself!!!

I agree. That's why I use chromium based browsers or better said, why I don't use Mozilla browsers even as secondary ones. :tooth:

OK, just for drill I reset all the settings in Ad Guard to default and all the sites I couldn't open before now open.  I closed and reopened Firefox  and opened the sites that previously said :Can't connect" or Site not protected, all opened again normally.   Computers... they're going to put me in an early grave.
