fr3d3r1ck
An update pushed by Malwarebytes today for their Malwarebytes Anti-Malware product has caused a lot of problems for those who use their program. This new protection update caused mbamservice.exe to consume a lot of memory and upwards to 90% of the computer's CPU. A new update has been pushed that resolves these issues. Mbamservice.exe Using a lot of CPU First reported in the Malwarebytes forums, numerous people have been complaining today about mbamservice.exe consuming large amount of memory and spiking the CPU at over 90% usage. This has caused some computers to crash or become too unstable to use. In a post to their forums, Malwarebytes CEO Marcin Kleczynski explained that a bad protection update caused these problems and that a new update had just been released that fixes these problems. Information about New Malwarebytes Update that Resolves Problems To resolve these issues simply start MBAM and check for new updates. The program will automatically download the new update and install it. If your computer is unresponsive, you can either terminate the mbamservice.exe process in task manager and restart Malwarebytes in order to try and download the new update. As a last resort, you can uninstall MBAM and reinstall it. Once the update is installed, your computer should no longer be having problems and mbamservice.exe should be using the appropriate amount of resources again. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/malwarebytes-update-released-to-fix-high-cpu-and-memory-usage-in-mbamservice-exe/
lurch234
The problem had more to do with the web protection part of the service and not all of it. I experienced that problem myself. If you disabled and stopped the service in the Services part of administrative tools, when restarting it with the service back to automatic the web protection wasn't functional. And as long as you didn't try to restart it, MB experienced no other problems. The freaky thing about this issue was that whenever you tried to kill the service via task manager it just kept coming back! Like a damn virus! shorty6100
I sincerely hope that someday MBAM 3 becomes stable as 2 was. I have a lifetime licence that I would like to use at some point.

I think it's not easy to make AIO protection become stable, they can but maybe take a long time

alaindc
Got this problem yesterday. Early morning, the pc was fine, but at noon, the pc was mostly unusable. Even trying to close mbamservice via the admin service tool wasn't working... saying after a minute it's unable to close it (even if it did), and restarting it (even putting the service as manual). the ram usage go up more than a gig per minutes. i barely uninstall it after four restart, and killing the service when it uninstall. The update version...work, but the 2.x version was much more stable.
Katzenfreund
Up to two years back I was using MBAM with a pirated life license on my XP. Finally got tired of its use of memory while updating and also blocking a good proportion of the sites I visited calling them "Potentially malicious". As for malware itself, it never found anything worthwhile. After I disabled it, nothing happened to my computer. So when I got my new W10 computer, I didn't even bother to install it again, don't even know if my license still works. My take: If you're using a secure system like Windows 10, have surfing experience and common sense, the most you might need is a free antivirus to replace the one on board. Anything more is superfluous and consumes resources.
Pete 12
Only using as a second opinion scanner , not using all the other "safety-tools" of this program. No problems with it (yet) , on the other hand ; it never finds a virus or other "threads "............... If I find a good/solid replacement for it , will uninstall it anyway ! lolsee2
Have uninstalled it few years back , I think hit man pro virus scanner and adwcleaner is good enough.
jollydan
I have used Malwarebytes Premium for years and I've experienced no problems whatsoever! I removed KIS and have used MBAM since. I haven't seen BSOD like when I use KIS. MBAM is the most reliable AV according to my own opinion.
