nsane.forums
The National Anti-Pornography and Anti-Illegal Publications Office has the task of educating China’s youth on copyright issues, to ‘purify’ the publication market by removing pirated and illegal publications. The office launched a new campaign this August targeting pirated education materials, a campaign that turned out to be a huge success. Less than a month after it was launched the office has already seized more than 4 million pirated teaching materials. As a result a massive 182 printing companies were shut down as well as 100,000 stalls where the illegal teaching materials were sold.“The situation of illegal publications is generally under control… However, pirate issue is still obvious. Those pirated teaching materials especially harm the healthy development of the country’s youth,” Li Baozhong, vice director of the National Anti-Pornography and Anti-Illegal Publications Office, said at a press conference earlier this week. Baozhong did not elaborate on how knowledge and education will harm children’s health, but we assume that it has something to do with content that the Government may not approve of. How educational materials could hurt one’s health remains a mystery though.China is of course known for its censorship and notoriously blocks websites that may ‘harm’ its citizens including Wikipedia, YouTube, Flickr and Facebook. Interestingly, BitTorrent sites have never been targeted and almost all of the are still accessible today.Article from: TorrentFreak, check out our new blog at FreakBits. HX1
Yeah there was a big bit about this about 2 years ago in the news.. Even searches that contain certain words are blocked. Now I could see how outdated and mis-understood/used materials could be of harm.. along with the content itself also being incorrect.. along with market driven aspects of some things.. I have ran across some stuff in my lifetime that I couldn't believe what I was seeing, reading, or hearing as a teaching tool.. to the point of the exploitative ...on that note more power to the what they are doing..On the other hand to some degree..if the censorship came to a point of shielding the development of understanding and experience in some areas.. I would disagree with it.... as people develop they can be taught in some cases all day long about something... BUT in life the experience can be felt, understood, and seen much differently.. In some cases it is better to have had a situation evolve in front of you, or interaction with to properly understand where precisely it goes wrong.. or what to do... I mean I don't think any one would want mindlessness, or sayings in place of truly understanding something.. the effect can be dis-associated itself.. and the lesson lost... along with the opportunity. It would be something that would have to be someone's sole devotion. Balance has to be achieved.

myidisbb
just one big censorship operation that uses the bs porn excuse when there isnt any porn to begin with. they escape goat them by saying they where involved with porn or anti china. we saw what happen when they contorl themedia in 89 and we saw what happen in iran in 09. hopefully in our lifetime both caoutries will be free one day. to include other nations too. besides they dotn want their people to be able to get around their censorship do them
