<img src="http://www.nsanedown.com/images/logos/Chrome.png" class="logo" alt="Google Chrome" title="Google Chrome" />Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. Google Chrome also uses a brand new javascript engine (V8), which is much faster than existing javascript interpreters. This means you can create more complex and more intensive AJAX applications with fewer speed and processing constraints. Finally, Google Chrome is built on top of WebKit, so Google Chrome users will benefit from the CSS3 features being added to WebKit as those features are released.

<b>Note</b>: The latest Beta graduated to Stable today.

Thanks for this update.

The GoogleUpdate.exe background process that used to run all the time because of Google Chrome 2.0 and earlier seems to be gone now with 3.0.195.21. Finally!! :dance2:

Gee, a year ago we were only at version 0.2.149.29 Beta. Google Chrome's version numbers are really advancing quickly.

I didn't even realize this wasn't beta until now.. and I installed it like yesterday.. unless they updated from Beta to Stable in that time period..

Yes, that's what happend. The first line in today's change log says:

3.0.195.21 has graduated from Beta to the Stable channel today.

This new Google Chrome 3.0.195.21 Stable crashed quite a few times on me yesterday (on XP Home SP3). At least it always just continued on without needing to restart Chrome. Restarting Chrome didn't fix things. Maybe after restarting my PC it will be stable? The previous stable version, 2.0.172.43 Stable, never crashed on me.

SRWare Iron 3.0.197.0 (Google Chrome but with privacy concerns addressed) has been out since 2009-08-09 and it has been rock solid. It's a slightly later build than the latest stable Google Chrome build.

I just rebooted my old Windows XP Home SP3 machine. While the PC was booting I did see the GoogleUpdate.exe process. But before the PC had quieted down, the GoogleUpdate.exe process disappeared. It didn't return when I started Google Chrome. It also didn't return when I clicked on "About Google Chrome" which checks to see if Google Chrome is up to date.

So I like that the GoogleUpdate.exe process doesn't run all the time like it used to with Google Chrome 2.0 and earlier. The new behaviour of running only during a reboot is acceptable.

I still remove the thing from startup and shred the entire installation folder for the Updater.. I also started using SRWare Iron lately.. one of the interesting facts about Chrome which I was thinking about when I installed one of the first Beta versions.. is all of the things that are listed on SRWare's site .. that Chrome actually does..even with the Anonymizer...

I feel much better using Iron than I do chrome..
