manbotdbot
I've got a problem installing KAV 2010. It always says something like "installation stopped prematurely because of an error" and I've even tried installing in Safe Mode. Safe mode doesn't work because apparently, .MSIs don't work on safe boot. Please help.

donizme
Kaspersky AntiVirus 2010 does not support Windows 7, which is a massive mistake by the company. Symantec and other main players already do. So if you have Win7 consider switching.

Or are AV and IS so different?I used to encounter similar problem as you (couldn't install security software).. it was because of disk error. It took me some time to realize that CHKDSK might actually help and it did :P

It does not officially support Windows 7! ;) It may only work because Win7 has same kernal as Vista, but will still have some problems, I would wait until they officially support Win7. Do you really want to put your system security at risk by using a product which doesn't officially support your system?Look here at official website and click on 'System Requirements':Kaspersky AntiVirus 2010

Read they forum and you will see! And you make laugh now  :fool: Dude Windows 7 and Windows Vista have difrent kernel. If they have the same Windows 7 will be bad as vista was! manpe
Okay I also checked the KIS section, and it also doesn't support 7. Wonder why Microsoft has officially put Kaspersky under recommended antivirus vendors list then? But I haven't had many probs with KIS except the sandboxed function doesn't work here. Otherwise.. it is giving me the false positives on fixes and keygens as it's supposed to :afro:
donizme
@ AlijaFor the last time, Kaspersky does not officially support Windows 7 yet, it's more than just 'they haven't put the Windows 7 in the system requirements yet'. Their antivirus engine for Windows 7 is currently in RC stage. Windows 7 does use the same kernal as Vista, it's just optimised( google is your friend). But essentially, it is the same. Why do you think most software that work for Vista works for Win7? Magic? Someones birthday wish? If you still don't believe me, visit this link:Kaspersky engine in RC for Win7
0veR
@donizmeThey work coz Win7 have same build 6 as vista have thats why!Windows Vista is build number 6 and Windows 7 is 6.1 (not 7) thats why!
donizme
I know about the build string, but your not understanding. Any changes to the kernel (even optimisations) causes compatability problems. That's why they named it 6.1. The kernel of Win7 is slightly improved through optimisation, but even this means most software doesn't work, so they named it 6.1. You can read more below. It is not a totally new kernel. The last time MS made new kernel was for Vista when the XP kernel couldn't do what Microsoft required. :) Windows 7 kernel optimisationIf you can find me any article which says Windows 7 has a totally new kernel, I will be very surprised. manbotdbot
I used ESET NOD32. I don't think I have a virus, but I'll go check. And, Bizarre™, I have also tried the standard fix. I'll try the suggestions in the thread you gave and post the results here.EDIT: I've tried the registry fix before, but it's still the same. I'll try again, but I'm currently doing something. manbotdbot
I really can't fix it. Any other anti-viruses that can compete with Kaspersky except for ESET, 'cause it's incompatible with Trickster Online. ^_^
