I wont use any validation crack. At least for XP. I have got proper info from my engineer that windows update will interfere with my PC. And it has also done that previously. It had disabled full Windows Firewall. When I contact the MS about it, I came to know that it was done by Windows Update because I didn't had a genuine XP. Even when cracked, I had same problem. Now I have stopped Windows Update and no such problem occurs for me and no more specific svchost error that is done by Windows Update when ON.

DKT my friend its alrite to use the Validation Crack and specially if its from Chatt,the crack mearly makes ur pirated copy geniun by editing some registry values pertaining to the licence,it does nothing else.It has absolutely nothing to do with the Windows Firewall.

The patch u used was no gud,or ur OS was corrupt,is all i can guess.

I for one have been using Validation passes for one year,nothing wrong has ever happened,i just update the first time manually,and then it absolutely updates automatically.set and forget.

Anyways if u dont want to use a patch,u can always do it manually like this.

Instruction:

• Click Start -> Run -> Type: Regedit

• In the left pane, locate the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents

• In the right pane, right-click OOBETimer, and then click Modify.

• Change at least one digit of this value to deactivate Windows.

• Click Start -> Run -> Type: %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a

• The Activation screen will come up, click Register over telephone,

• Click Change Product Key.

• In the key boxes Type: JG28K-H9Q7X-BH6W4-3PDCQ-6XBFJ

• and then click Update.

• Windows is now Validated.

• If you are returned to the previous window, Click Remind me later, and

then restart the computer.

I have used the crack from CHATTCHITTO himself from TPB.

What I mentioned was the problems Windows Update has done on my PC. Not the crack.

@DKT

Updating windows doesnt cause problems,unless there is a driver incompatibility issue(very rarely).

Microsoft urges it users to update..when ever one is available,and it actually is a automatic affair.It upgrades its systems through updates.

u not trusting Microsoft updates is the most Wierd thing i have ever heard

anyways whatever u think is better for u.i told u what i knew

Thats all i can say

I had to install DirectX 9 (or I thought I did) to play COD4. So I did and it works fine on 7, and I updated it with the link here and that worked too. I guess I have both 9 and 10 installed on a Win 7 system.

@Tucker:

This version of DirectX is not for Windows 7.

Yikes! Good thing i did not install it yet..

Thanks for making that clear, mate! :rofl:

So, what's it gonna be?

-I guess i'll just wait for it to show up on Windows Update. ^_^

@Tucker:

There's no need to panic, since harpua was able to install it in Windows 7.

I'm not sure how Windows 7 works since I'm not upgrading yet.

Actually, I think you are right about Directx 11 & win 7, but still, as I said, I did install 9 on 7 and it does coexist with win 7's native version of directx fine.

Looks the same on mine (tool only shows 11 installed) but the instructions for my "special" version COD4 said to install Directx9 so I did and apparently both work.

To clear things out.

Vista comes with DX10, and 7 comes with DX11.

But neither of them have the files of previous versions.

You have to install DX9 also, or you'll be getting 'missing files' messages

or 'directx 9 not found' when trying to play games that require DX9 to run.

Btw, Bizarre, the picture you put is logo for DX10.

These are logos for DX9:

Thank you for clearing that up. That confirms I did the right thing by installing DirectX 9 on my W7 system.
