shought
eBoostr™ is an alternative solution to Vista’s ReadyBoost and SuperFetch technologies now available on Windows XP. It speeds up your PC and improves application responsiveness by using flash memory and free RAM as an extra layer of performance-boosting cache for your PC. Use up to four inexpensive flash devices to speed up your system. Add more speed to your PC without any hardware upgrade! The more often you use a particular application, the faster it’ll perform. eBoostr gathers statistics on what applications you use and how often, optimizing their performance by pre-caching their files and data and allowing faster access speed and reduced delays.Download

HX1
I have owned a version of this since version 2.. pretty good software if you have extra RAM its pretty cool.. or a USB Stick.. You really benefit from it if you have programs that are heavy on resources.. Otherwise regular Windows usage won't make a huge difference but it can help a few areas...I think I am going to wait and fight it out when the full version is ready for 4..I have 3 something installed and can be readily used..I just haven't in a while..important thing to remember is file exclusion..like mp3's and video..a few other file types as well..I really got into this a while back.. I can now actually put my whole pagefile in RAM.. which is interesting..took a little bit and quite a bit of documentation to fully understand it but once I did it wasn't too bad..Now I juts need a server board to use for my personal system .. one that can handle about 16GB of RAM..LOL.. and Dual quad core processors.. HX1
Nope pretty much you get the filetype in there and your good it won't matter about where they are after that..Now you can add whole folders to exclude as well..Once you do rebuild your cache. Before you rebuild your cache file though.. and this is something a lot of people skip.. Make sure your USB is defragged and compacted.. Then add the cache to the drive. most of the time people will add the cache to the drive and the files are spread out.. this winds up making a 1GB on a 2GB drive fragmented.. and slower to read/harder to start for the program..If you try to defrag the drive you will and error from windows saying there is not enough space on the drive.. If your using RAM directly then you can make sure the main file( .dat )is not fragmented as well..I have had good experiences with it.. Over programs that 'clean' your RAM and such.. well lets just say I never use any of that crap..EVER. Its SuperSpeed ( Love it ) for those REALLY experienced/Professional users...and this thing.. I actually have two more programs that are installed that I know actually work for this sort of thing.. O&O CleverCache Pro, and Systweak CacheBoost. So with a pristinely maintained system, that is setup as it should be I can tell a difference when using the programs..Total of four things.. It can be confusing a little but there is plenty of documentation n the net to help out with better understanding this area if your systems..
shought
eBoostr is really a great application, it really does speed up your PC(don't know the advantages in Windows Vista/7, since they have ReadyBoost and SuperFetch).I use it on all my XP systems.@heath28mYou said you're using more of these apps, is there one you particularly like over eBoostr, I'd be happy to look into it.(We, as staff, are always happy with any member suggestions :D You can post them or send any of us a PM ;) We can't promise we'll list it, but we will certainly have a look at it.) HX1
Well SuperSpeed products ( RAMDisk, SuperVolume, and SuperCacheII ) are really good..BUT they are mostly for people who have an extra partition and RAM. Great for server applications...In fact I was going to install a server on the RAM disk once.. They do add time to startup so technically you have to have the need for or have gains over normal usage. Saves tons or read write cycles..Expensive product, and rather specific on OS compatibility. To me they would be at the top of my list..Version 8 allows me to load an image file at boot time and can be used on XP Home Edition..There have been versions 9 and 10 since.. I have them but I haven't bothered upgrading.O&O CleverCache(Pro) has amazed me because of what it did for my mom and dads old system. I had to replace the hard drive and I installed my Vista Ultimate on their machine..This computer has standard hardware.. 512MB RAM, 1.6 GHz Athlon..32MB Video Chip...99-00 era top of the line machine.. I used Yamicsoft Vista Manager..and hooked it up with CleverCache.. and it runs fine - for their use. The computer was snappier.. and ran smoother...I wasn't expecting this without upgrading the Video Card and getting some more RAM.. Seems to work well with mine as well with 2GB of RAM..eBoostr would come in next, with the ability to use your RAM and USB.. does take a little longer to be ready to use your system when you boot but not as much as SuperSpeed...Was always reliable...and easy to configure very straight forward.Systweak CacheBoost Profesional Edition offered a lot of very nice features enabling very precise control over your system settings for both normal usage and servers...I haven't used it as much so I really can't rank it but seems to do the job...It does offer some of the options that FreeRAM and FreshRAM do but I feel they do the job without creating a system instability problem, which can occur in some cases.. ( It is possible though with some of the settings that are available )I may also up some of these somewhere, after I do some checking...but anyway there they are..
