karachidude
just wanted to make sure,If I format a drive,i dont have to defrag it,because the format command does that itself.right??
Administrator DKT27 Posted September 6, 2009 Administrator Share Posted September 6, 2009 If you format a drive. No need to defragment it. Formatting will remove all of the files fragment or not. New files that you will add to the drive will not become fragmented so fast.

manpe
I had problems with Ultimate Defrag in the past. It wouldn't do it properly after I configured it by a guide found here. Then I found PerfectDisk, which would be my recommendation (Y)
Patrick
I was using PerfectDisk but found that UltimateDefrag is more customizable and with shought's guide, it takes 10-20 mins to get everything done, my laptop was really snappy again. No more 2 sec. hang whenever I click the start menu and my applications loads faster btw.

shought
It's a fact that UD has it's incompatibility issues... :( But if you're one of the (many) lucky users for which it does work you'll be pleased ;)

Now I will config it as per shought's guide and will try the other features.

Should try it again in w7, but can't be bothered configuring it again :D If planning to defrag again, I will most likely use PD. Or maybe I'll try this Express program by the makers of UD. salihb
What about O&O Defrag? It's a great defrag application that can defrag the entire harddisk by last accessed data. This way it can make the PC Faster and make it get less fragmented.I've been using it for years and it works great!
SacredCultivator
Hmm I'm currently using "Puran Defrag", seems okay to me.

Tucker
I was smooth sailing with PerfectDisk until a few days ago when i ran the so called SMARTPlacement feature on a a partition that has badblocks that makes a "tick" sound on my HD. It crashed my system.. Every time i turn it on, it would BSOD saying missing drivers and s**** like that. and so i have to defrag my system offline using HBCD's JkDefrag (which i would recommend since it has never failed me b4).One thing i like about PerfectDisk is the way it monitors my HD on the fly.. and defrags it automatically whenever my computer is idle for x time. Now, I guess PD is only meant for "Perfect" Disks. :ablow:
playboy6006
Dear DKT27,I don't get what you mean? I found its thread nowhere in this forum.
