Recruit Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 Hello guys, I have a question regarding power output of an ip camera. To my gate currently I have a outdoor ip camera that uses 12V 1A. Due to I do not have any power sockets to that place I used a PoE ( power over ethernet ) kit from TP-Link. Now I want to change old camera with a new one that requires 12V 2A. In the manual of the PoE kit has been mentioned that it gives only 1A for 12V output. ( last page ) http://static.tp-link.com/resources/document/TL-POE200_v2_User_Guide.pdf Question : Does the new camera work with this kit ? In case that it will not work, what solutions might be applied ? masterupc Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 It won't work with 1A (maybe some functions will and others won't, it depends on the internal board layout) 12V @ 1A equals 12W 12V @ 2A equals 24W Get a new adpter that supports a wide range of Amps/Volts. Luck. Thanks friend , Please tell me which way I need to choose regarding the two possibilities : 1. Keeping the old injector from TP-Link and to replace only the splitter. The input of injector is 48V. 2. Using original adapter from the ip camera with a passive PoE kit. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a new kit with output of 12V 2A, apart of passive kits , about I don't know too many because I did not use them until now. Everything worked fine with PoE passive cables and with the original power adapter. Big thanks to @masterupc for tips. Topic marked with " Solved " by now !
