Experience with Remix OS or Phoenix OS or Hackintosh

Hallo my friends,

So my Windows 10 laptop is asking for a format and I was thinking of creating a dual boot setup just to experience something fresh..

I need Windows for some critical applications, but I since I am going to do the effort to backup and format everything, the idea sparkled of installing something different as a second OS.

In the middle of the 2 OS's I will setup a data drive with documents, music and video's.

I have tried Ubuntu before but for some reason I don't get the personal value of a normal Linux distro at the moment - basically uninstalled it after a short while. In other words I don't think I have the technical expertise (...or currently spare time) to fully utilize and understand the Linux environment... hopefully in future that could change.

Do you have any experiences on the latest versions of Remix OS or Phoenix OS.. or even a Sierra Hackintosh?

I think projects like Remix OS and Phoenix OS are worthy to support.

Also what do you think about their security and real life usability and assortment of apps that work well on the platform? Looking at Media Players, Office apps, Browsing and some basic stuff. Also would like my VPN app to work..

I think Remix OS is on Marshmallow and Phoenix OS on Nougat - not sure to what extent that makes a difference as these systems assumably have been extensively modified.

I have an older i7 3rd Gen laptop with 16GB Ram and 2GB Nvidia GFX card.. so in that sense either should run well.

Was also just wondering which filesystem to use for the Data drive, as I would like to have both the Windows OS and fun OS being able access the content, but at the same time don't want the risk of losing valuable data.

Looking forward to your comments and recommendations.

Regards,

Mr DeadEyeJohn

Why waste your drive space with any of them.  RemixOS and PhoenixOS are not serious OSes and don't support a lot of software and hardware.  Several of the emulators do a better job of running Android programs and you don't have to dual boot.  Hackintosh use to be the way to go but there have been problems with a lot of hardware, requiring the replacement of the Wifi and bluetooth cards in the laptop and the fact that a lot of things just don't work. The last computer I had that ran OSX without any hardware modifications and worked exactly like a MAC was a Dell Mini 9.  I put an Apple over the Dell Logo and everyone wanted to know where I got the 'cute little MAC' from, I told them it was a prototype I was testing for Apple.  If you want run a cheap Mac then get one of the old compatible HP laptops that you can install it directly on.  Some don't even require anything more than a $4 wireless card change.  You can google and find tons of information on it.

Hackintosh will always the best option. its better that real Apple PC such as iMac, Mac Pro. Remix OS or Phoenix OS are basically for basic hardware. Rendering and Audio Production can't be achieve from those Linux distributions but  Hackintosh provide wide platform for Rendering and Audio Production. Like FCP and Logic Pro.
