Togijak
My computer is configured with a admin and a user account and nearly everything works fine without a VPN client that uses OpenVPN. If I start the client I get netsh command failed: returned error code 1 and it dos not help if I use "run as admin". Is there any way to give the client the needed privileges? Otherwise I have to login to the admin account, start the VPN and than switch to the user account
straycat19
FAQ Community Software Why can't I run OpenVPN on Windows from a non-admin user account? There are two reasons: 1. Windows does not provide a WHQL-approved method to allow the TAP-Win32 driver to make its virtual device node accessible from a non-admin account. 2. OpenVPN needs the ability to add routes to the system routing table. This requires admin privileges. (Posters Note: By switching to a User Account you may be hindering the changes being made to the system routing table and therefore not actually using a VPN but reverting back to your standard network IP.)
