Sound keeps repeating, Winamp crashes

Well ffdshow comes with Klite Codecs.. which I live and die by..I have NEVER been unable to play a file.. :thumbsup:

Sound Effect Manager comes with RealTek, and it can be okay.. but as you will find overtime, various different processing of audio and video files you won't always have wonderful results..I mean the same is true of any enhancement, and sometimes once you start tweaking you don't stop and then the file is through.. try having two sets of EQ's two different enhancements, run that through two systems each with its own alterations.. and finally out the speakers..LOL..I currently use DeCiSoft EQ 32 Band, EAX 2.0 Plugin, and AudioBurst FX w/Studio Sound Package, ( Tried a Stereo Tool posted here and it kept crashing and freezing up the PC )..What I get in the end is good tweaked sound, but it is at a reduction to overall volume level..

Then if I wanted.. I could probably go in and tweak the codec outputs too..( Yes as confusing as a real live studio .. eww fun .. LOL )

When I want good loud audio I use Torq, or Traktor Studio/Pro.. I have a lot of toys though.. LOL .. I mean I could just redo the whole file in Adobe, Sony, or Abelton Products.. Video too, but then when I just want to watch a video I run WinDVD9, and it uses codec from the package and sounds excellent without usually even one tweak or change..

The SRS used to be the best thing around, and for some files, its the right choice, in fact I still use the built-in for WMP11, when it improves the sound. It never would run on my other system and I just never used it afte that.

I use ffdshow too but it is weak against H.264 files. I kept watching some anime (like Bleach) and the picture was always stuttering with a constant blurred look and I thought for a while the file itself was crappy until I realised the file was H.264 encoded. I now use coreAVC decoder which uses CUDA acceleration to render H.264 streams and all of a sudden videos never looked so good before :D.

@mara-

Please keep me posted, as I think SRS Audio Sandbox might be the cause of this problem.

My problem begin, when I replaced motherboard. With new mootherboard I got new integated sound card and I started using it. Note, that I did not use integrated card on previous motherboard, which was also Realtek. I was using some cheap sound card, which I thought is better then integrated card. But, since I uninstalled SRS, my problem did not appear. I'll wait for few more days to be sure, since problem was random, but I'm 99% sure that it SRS causes the problem.

@everyone

Little of topic: What do you guys think is better? My integrated Realtek card from Asus P5QC motherboard or C-Media 8738? I can't notice any difference, but what you guys think?

Cheers ;)

Well I have only run across one or two of these types, If I had an Ipod probably more so, but I don't..Not even the one that looks like a suppository.. you know for easy smuggling in case of the RIAA..

I have seen a few of them, mostly smaller I think..

Well I would say options and Hardware options most of all, what you can do with it in/out.. I always heard ASUS was a desirable hardware manufacturer but I have never owned..I need to own a good system one day. I would also say that which ever supports the most advanced tech, protocols.. so on.. thats always a better consideration because of the 'end-of-life' spectrum.. but thats how I would rate it..

Yeah, but I heard somewhere that every PCI sound card is better then integrated, but I'm not sure in this. I'm asking about the quality of the sound. But, my ears did not notice nothing different between the cards, but then my ears are not so good to notice this kind of difference.

Cheers ;)

ASUS Xonar FTW! I don't own it, but it is pretty excellent hardware for the price. Much better than the overpriced stuff sold by creative.

Luckily I am like mara- in the sense that I can't hear the audiophile differences so I stick with the onboard "HD audio".

@mara:

Pick Realtek ;)

@LeetPirate:

Try ffdshow again, and:

1. Open ffdshow video decoder > Decoder options

2. Set Drop frame on delay to 1ms

3. Enjoy

Hmm, will try to remember that if I need to fix it on another pc. I still use ffdshow for all other formats, it is just disabled for H.264 and CoreAVC kicks in. I prefer CoreAVC because it uses GPU CUDA power and frees up the CPU for other tasks. And of course the picture really displays better when rendered by the GPU, the colours look more vibrant and clear.

You know I didn't even realize it but I actually use DivX's H.264 codec.. not K-Lite.. even though K-Lite wants to uninstall it every time..LOL
