HitmanPro 3.7.20 Build 286

Recommended Posts

HitmanPro 3, formerly Hitman Pro, is a fast All-in-One tool to locate, identify and remove viruses, spyware, trojans, rootkits and other malware. HitmanPro 3 will quickly show if your PC is infected with malicious software. Research shows that many computers are infected, even if they have an up-to-date security suite installed, and that a combination of different anti malware programs would be required to prevent infection. HitmanPro 3 uses innovative cloud computing techniques to detect and remove potential malware threats with minimal impact on system performance. A further benefit of this technology is that you need never again download definitions on a hourly / daily basis as this is all managed in the cloud further reducing the impact on your PC. Scanning your PC is free for the life of the product. Users can take a paid for subscription to cover malware removal after the first 30 days free use.

Thanks to kabino for the update.

People on Windows 10 are not effected .  And if you did  updates in March on Vista - Windows 8.1 you re not  effected. And now XP  and windows 8 have a patch too ,

Quote

  • The vulnerability does not exist within Windows 10, the latest version of the software, but is present in all versions of Windows prior to that, dating back to Windows XP.
  • As a result of Microsoft’s first patch, users of Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.1 can easily protect themselves against the main route of infection by running Windows Update on their systems. In fact, fully updated systems were largely protected from WanaCrypt0r even before Friday, with many of those infected having chosen to delay installing the security updates.
  • Users of Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 8 can defend against the ransomware by downloading the new patch from Windows.
  • All users can further protect themselves by being wary of malicious email attachments, another major way through which the ransomware was spread.

A of Microsoft’s security response team, Phillip Misner, wrote: “We know that some of our customers are running versions of Windows that no longer receive mainstream support.

“That means those customers will not have received the … Security Update released in March. Given the potential impact to customers and their businesses, we made the decision to make the Security Update for platforms in custom support only, Windows XP, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2003, broadly available for download.”

Although the malware’s main infection vector was through the vulnerability in Windows, it also spread in other ways which require changes in user behaviour to protect against. Phishing attacks with malicious attachments are the main way the malware ends up on corporate networks, meaning that users should be wary of opening such attachments if they seem unusual, as well as keeping all Microsoft Office applications up to date.

More and more antivirus platforms, including Microsoft’s own Windows Defender, are now recognising and blocking the malware, but relying on a purely technical fix means that a new variant of the software could sneak past the defences. Variations of the malware have already been seen in the wild, but they have lacked the capacity to spread themselves, which has vastly limited their proliferation.

For those who have been infected, paying the ransom may seem a tempting way out of trouble. But experts recommend against doing so, arguing that not only does it not guarantee restoration of any files, but it also funds future crime. And, for now, it appears that victims agree: fewer than 100 have actually paid up.

The Windows vulnerability is not a zero-day flaw, but one for which Microsoft had made available a security patch on 14 March 2017 nearly two months before the attack. The patch was to the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol used by Windows. Organizations that lacked this security patch were affected for this reason, although there is so far no evidence that any were specifically targeted by the ransomware developers.Initially, any organization still running the older Windows XP was at particularly high risk because no security patches had been released since April 2014. However, after the outbreak, Microsoft released a security patch for Windows XP on 13 May 2017, the day after the attack launched.

Difference showing in pictures.

To activate "patched with license info" you need to activate trial license first (no need if you are running HitmanPro Alert, just install).

The beta must have been considered stable enough to be final.

I have tried both downloads within topic provided by jalaffa and dickmaster. My system crashes everytime I run a scan.

I am running Windows 10 Pro x64. Anyone else experiencing similar issues??

man do I feel dumb for asking such a noob question, but I  have tried for hours to fix this and am stuck.

I previously had  HitmanPro  installed and used Revo uninstaller to remove it and upgrade to this version.  Well, now when I run the install app version listed in the OP, it comes up as trial and does a scan, but never installs the file so I cannot go to

C:\Program Files\HitmanPro and replace the .exe with the patch.

It seems I remember with previous versions there was an option to install, I cannot find that this time, and am desperate for any help or guidance anybody can provide.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for all your comments, i still seem to be struggling to run this version as it always runs PC to 100% CPU and uses loads of RAM.

I was running the previous version fine....gutted. Can someone link me to the previous version as I stupidly deleted it?

I have no idea why, but it started to work after a few failed attempts.  I'd love to tell everybody how I did it, to save them the hours of grief that I had, but I have no idea why it started to work, but it is working 100%.

Just don't run the get license_reset.exe app. Doh!! now its un-activated. my mouse stopped working, thought it was over the x64, double clicked. tried extracting the files again seems something has changed.

Jeez... Fixed.
