Here is a fun fact: Korn’s new bassist, Tye Trujillo, is not only 12 years old—a shocker in itself—but is also the son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. How about that for a mind warp? Another fun fact, or rather, observation: Trujillo has the kind of ultimate metal hair that puts even the unruly curls of Slash and the soft-permed pompadour of Bon Jovi to shame.

 

The pint-sized brunette strummer has some supermodel-status, waist-length locks, which measure out to almost half his height. Like his guitar skills, Trujillo’s majestic thrasher-Rapunzel hair genes also run in the family: Metallica’s Trujillo was known for his long sweat-soaked mane, which he often styled into pigtails. Meanwhile, Tye’s mother, Chloe Trujillo, also has notable hair that reaches just above her knees.

 

There’s no doubt that the child bass protégé will be shaking up the beauty aesthetic of Korn as he replaces Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu on the band’s South American tour: The memorable hairstyles of his new bandmates have included everything from ombre bleached dreads to messianic-looking multi-braids. Trujillo’s superhuman hair—and talent—is bound to breathe some fresh life into the band. Plus, one thing is for sure: Those tresses will make for one hell of a head bang.
