trufpal Posted April 3, 2017 Share Posted April 3, 2017 Happened to me before. I have an empty folder that couldn't be deleted. Tried all methods i could think off without luck. Maybe You have R-Undelete installed and this folder is in use or locked or not empty etc? Then tell, which Windows it is and exactly where this folder located. Then is possible to say something at all. Even this may be, that there isn't any files, but You have not deleted icon cache and You see there icon thumbnail, not icon itself. dee.pee Posted April 3, 2017 Share Posted April 3, 2017 Check if in the last sub-sub...sub-folder there is not an hidden file. If yes try to delete it and maybe now you can delete the whole thing. I already had this problem (still unsolved) with some folders and the only way I could found was ..... to hide the main folder itself . Kalju Posted April 3, 2017 Share Posted April 3, 2017 If so, open the folder, then enable to see hidden files and folders, if there is some, try to delete. If not possible to delete, try rename them, Then rename this folder, if possible then move it for example on desktop or much better on other partition or USB drive. If it all possible, restart computer. After restart You can probably delete it. NB! You do not have any R-Undelete installed or connected, otherwise it will make a new folder immediately. Togijak Posted April 3, 2017 Author Share Posted April 3, 2017 I found a way - I booted Tails and try first safe delete but after 5 minutes without any reaction my next try was to put it in trash. After reboot to Windows der folder is deleted that is why we cal Windows in such situations in Germany Windoof and doof can be translated to stupid (but sounds better in German) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This usually disappears after a restart, but not always. But remember this trick, what was advised above, it will help almost always. Good luck in future. dee.pee Posted April 4, 2017 Share Posted April 4, 2017 Under Shadow Defender mode, I deleted 2 "very resistent" folders using EastTec Eraser (in its last version 12.9.x), and some hours after they didn't magically come back. It's not necessary a proof, but it seems that it works, because generally folders came back after some minutes. (it is so-called cause) As long as the cause is not eliminated, it will return always. So do not try to delete the folder, which is in use. Remove firstly the reason, why the folder is at all there. I can't tell you what could happend after a reboot as a restart will erase all actions I made under Shadow mode. there is system volume information + shadow copy Windows service that will keep restore you´re folders so in my opinion you shoul´d try to rename these folders and don´t mess with the attrib ownership of the folders to del them.
