steven36
George Orwell's novel, “1984,” was first published in 1949. Dystopian in nature, it is set in a world of perpetual war where individual freedom, thought and speech are forbidden by a monolithic central government known as Big Brother which makes it their business to keep close tabs and suffocating control on the citizens. The book had such an impact that a new word was created, “Orwellian,” which encompassed all the suppression and overreach of an all-powerful government with the ability to spy on all its citizens and "Big Brother" became a catch phrase to describe such a government. “1984” was, I think, viewed as a futuristic warning, an omen of the evil of a paranoid, power drunk government, feared, but basically relegated to the Neverland reaches of the mind, wary, but unable to conceive a federation with the control and resources to bring such fantastic evil to fruition. Well, friends and neighbors, 1984 has arrived – even if it’s a few decades behind schedule. Amongst the gaggle of alphabet federal acronyms, FBI, CIA, NSA, etc., at the ultra-secret sites and amid the “Star Wars” technologies and super computers, the power exists to spy on every citizen in this nation, simultaneously and continuously. Every phone call, every email, every internet transaction, everything said on a phone or transmitted over the web is accessible by our government. It's a frightening thought, isn't it? Well, let me tell you an even more frightening one: there are people who almost offhandedly ignore the laws that govern the collection and dissemination of such information and pass it to those who would use it for a political advantage. Recent events have brought to light the existence of a shadowy world where morality is nonexistent and the law of the land is nothing more than a suggestion. We’re in a world where the people at the top can use this technology, and those who operate it, to listen in on conversations and view the most intimate and business sensitive emails. If America is to survive as a free country and stay out of the clutches of those who would like nothing better than to bring about a "Big Brother" type of government, drastic steps must be taken immediately, heads must roll, prison sentences must be passed out, names must be exposed and safeguards put in place to protect America and Americans from those who think laws are only for the common man and can be broken at will by the powerful. I don't know where this will lead, and it's too early to even imagine how high it could go, but from the early indications, it could lead to a serious shaking of the highest political power in this land. Wherever it leads, this trail must be pursued to the bitter end. Nobody should be protected from scrutiny; and the law should be applied to the perpetrators who passed the information – those who leaked it and those who intended to use it to their advantage, no matter how high up. The implications of this sordid flaunting of the law are almost beyond comprehension, the thought that nobody is safe from surveillance for no good reason at the whim of someone with access to the information. There is a lot of talk these days about having a special prosecutor to look into the affairs of those accused of wrongdoing. In my book, if anything merits a special prosecutor, this flagrant abuse of the law and the violation of the faith of the people of this nation definitely does. Chop the block and it could be really interesting to see where the chips fall. What do you think? jtmulc
While he doesn't go much into specifics, as Mr. Daniels is a rather boisterous supporter of Donald Trump, he may be making reference to President Trump's repeated claims (that are repeatedly debunked) that then-President Obama had candidate Trump wiretapped. After perusing some of Mr. Daniels' other posts, he is apparently under the belief that there are still steelworkers in Pittsburgh. Perhaps he can come here and point one out to me, if only for the rarity factor. I've lived here all my life and never met one.

So what'? most Democrats are sore losers and under the delusion Trump is not there President when he very much is I'm a independent who dont have very much love for ether party . The only Democrat I remember as President were times were good in my lifetime was Bill Clinton and this was not his crooked wife who lost .And Bill Clinton is most likely is why there no mill workers there because he signed NAFTA ! I know him signing that bill is why there's not many jobs in my area now. Trump wants it pulled and he already had TPPA threw out. good on him..Just because someone votes Republication dont mean they don't want privacy it most likey means there not for Big Government and a one world order. It dont even mean there Republication. Facts: Quote Daniels was an early supporter of Jimmy Carter's presidential bid and performed at his January 1977 inauguration Not so long ago, he was a supporter of Bill Clinton… Daniels, 79, is no stranger to controversial remarks. He’s no fan of President Barack Obama or the other Democratic candidates running for president, but he hasn’t thrown his support behind any Republican candidate either. Daniels said :Unfortunately, and I am including Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, liberals and independents, political dialogue in America has deteriorated to the point of resembling a playground argument among second graders. I doubt Former President Obama did tap Trump he pretty much did nothing for 8 years but make speeches, he was too lazy too do anything too put forth a effort to do this .I watched a state of the nation address once with him in office and he was talking about Google like they create jobs when they never created 1 job in rural America! . His security was such crap that the other Democrats and the Green Party said he allowed his own party too be hacked. If this was the road we were going down with the Democrats were better off without them. And it pays too be paranoid and someone must of told Trump he was wiretapped for him to believe this, but like it or not he is you're President More or less what Daniels did was tell the GOP to get behind the President because it's a disgrace not too be the person who's running on the same ticket as you. At 1st he did not like Trump at all, but he disliked the others running more. To the common person its not about what party they are it's about you vote in who you think is best for the job regardless of what party. I felt the whole time there really was no one too vote for myself but still I voted.
