luisam
I was listening an album by The Blues Brothers when a song called my attention, titled "Who's making love". Yes, it was familiar, a cover of some tune I remembered having heard many years ago. It's a really great funky music. If we search for the title, we can learn that it's not simply any oldie. It was recorded in 1968 by Johnny Taylor. his breakthrough single, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot R&B singles chart and number five on the Billboard Hot 100. It became one of the few singles Taylor would become primarily known for in the mainstream. The song featured the Stax house band, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, and Isaac Hayes on keyboards, an incredible lineup! It was Taylor's best-selling single before the release of "Disco Lady" almost a decade later. According to Bettye Crutcher, the lyrics were inspired by the 1920s novelty song "Who Takes Care of the Caretaker's Daughter (While the Caretaker's Busy Taking Care) Now, the the lyrics are simply DELIRIOUS! Just listen him when he sings: Who's making love to your old lady while you were out making love?... Here are the complete lyrics All you fellas, gather 'round me And let me give you some good advice What I'm gonna, gonna ask you now You'd better think about it twice While you're out cheatin' on woman There is something I never ever dreamed of And that is Who's making love to your old lady While you were out making love? Who's making love to your old lady While you were out making love? I've known so, so many fellows All in that same old bag Thinkin' that a woman was made to To be beat on and treated so bad Well now, let me tell you something Something I never ever dreamed of Who's making love to your old lady While you were out making love? Who's making love to your old lady While you were out making love? I know there are some woman Guilty of this too I'm not trying to run your life The choice is up to you Yeah you, you, you The reason why I ask this question I used to be the same old way Till I started to straighten up I found it was a bit too late Oh yeah, that's when it all started Something I never ever dreamed of Somebody was a lovin' my old lady While I was out making love Somebody was a lovin' my old lady While I was out making love Now who's making love to your old lady While you were out making love? Now who's making love to your old lady While you were out making love? Somebody was a lovin' my old lady While I was out making love Enjoy the Youtube video with Johnnie Taylor, (May 5, 1934 – May 31, 2000) an American vocalist in a wide variety of genres, from blues, rhythm and blues, soul, and gospel to pop, doo-wop and disco.
