qBittorrent is a multi-platform Bittorrent client developed in C++/Qt4. The qBittorrent project aims to provide a Free Software alternative to µtorrent. Its main features are its integrated search engine (allows searching for torrent from the main torrent Web sites simultaneously in a transparent fashion), its support for l'UPnP/NAT-PMP, Bittorrent protocol encryption (Azureus-compatible), Peer Exchange (PeX) compatible with µTorrent, IP filtering (eMule-like "ipfilter.dat" or PeerGuardian filters), Torrents (and the files they contain) prioritizing, remote control through a secure Web User Interface.

Thanks to ARMOUR for the update.

Any ideas why the x64 version installs to the Program Files (x86) directory by default? Shouldn't it install to the normal x64 Program Files folder?

No bsod in windows 10  ?   I was getting bsod with it in Windows 10 on my dell  before and uTorrent and Transmission QT were fine .. Some wil sayl its not due to  the client but i object if it were another problem why do other clients work OK? Ive not had my Dell  on in awhile so its been awhile since i tested it and dont know if I will again I don't fancy BSODs lol.

Programs do not cause BSODs.

BSODs are caused by driver or possible hardware issues.

NirSoft's BlueScreenView can display information and help determine what the cause of a BSOD is.

I would believe that if the problem was happening too all  torrent clients  anyway i always install the latest drivers  from Dell . Most of the time when I had BSOD in the past it were 2 programs conflicting with each other  maybe this what is causing it but  I never had any bsod on that PC with Windows 10 rs 1  except when i tried to run qbittorrent. on it. This pc is pretty new even. even my BIOS  i ungraded it  for windows 10 .My Dell was was windows 8.1 free upgrade to Windows 10 out of the box they support Windows 10 on it.

And in the top 10 reasons for BSOD software is listed so software not causing BSOD is a myth .

Software

Most software errors will not cause Windows to crash. Both the operating system and the software that runs on it have become more reliable over the years.

Still, software issues can cause random lock-ups. The culprit is often obvious because the problem only occurs when that software is used. It will be less obvious if the problem software is running in the background.

In rare cases your PC might freeze on boot because of software that runs automatically. You can usually resolve this by booting to safe mode and using msconfig to disable software that runs at boot.

And this was the problem i was having my pc would bsod only when using qbittorrent I dont use BitTorrent enough anymore  too really care witch client I use as long as it works but i will test it again to see if it was just a version bug . No one is seeding much over on public p2p anymore  anyone who has the extra money is buying a debird , so unless Im on the private site I belong too i can just leech the torrent with debird  and dont have too worry about BitTorrent trolls  Only time I leech or go to private sites is when i cant find  it on a  filehost  witch is very rare .Streaming videos  have become more popular than  BitTorrent.

I'mI waiting for them to push everyone over the edge  to decentralized filesharing  before I get back in too it heavy Decentralized technology is there just  there is no big demand  for it yet because  P2P and filehost  have become all about sites making money and stuff is very easy to find.. Once they clamp down hard enough and most all sites vanish then the next wave of fileshareing  will take place witch will be decentralized filesharing.

People who use BitTorrent are making site owners rich  they are the ones sharing so as long as a people gather together  in the name of  filesharing it will always prevail. I have other p2p software that is pure filesharing  that's not even on the  BitTorrent protocol and no site needed.

I went back to uTorrent because I got tired of qbittorrent saying "stalled" for close to a minute on EVERY torrent before they would start. But for some odd reason my go to version of uTorrent (3.3.2) started creating crash dump files every time I closed uTorrent. So after a few days I have a folder full of .dmp files. Moved up to the first non-beta version of 3.4 and have no issues again. Could never figure out the reason for "stalled" in qbit or the crash dumps on what was previously a perfect working version of uTorrent. It never actually crashed though, I think Win10 just thinks it is crashing when I close it. It just didn't do that before.

After you've closed the equation with Windows 10, the result will never be qBittorrent. I never had the problem you told neither in Windows 7 nor in Fedora...

Had the same issue on Win 8.1. Have seen plenty of posts about the "stalled" issue in many, many different places. Zero idea what causes it for myself or others, but the problem DOES exist. Went through all of the troubleshooting that those who have gotten it solved for themselves have taken, but none of them remedied it for myself (and plenty of others).

I'd like to say I'd give it another go after a few versions, but it's already been plenty of versions since I had previously tried it on 8.1 with the same problem. I have 250 Mbps both up and down so that's not the issue, happened on 8.1 so 10 wasn't the issue, completely uninstalled Avira Pro so A/V conflict wasn't the issue, disabled windows firewall completely.. not the issue, plugged my PC in straight from the wall to bypass the router... ziltch.

qBit is excellent if it's working perfectly for a person. Not so great when it's having issues. Same can be said for any other client. The ONLY thing I don't care for in qBit (other than what I already described) is that it doesn't have the checkbox that uTorrent does, to have it NOT create a subfolder if you choose.

I always say use what works best for the individual. :)
