jvidal
there's something wrong here: the notebook and desktop drivers for win10 are identical...why would they release them separately if they are the same? The same goes for win8/7 drivers. Why use different names for identical files? Either they unified or it's some silly mistake. And, strangely enough, the search function at geforce.com isn't working. On nvidia.com, you can find the drivers, but they say "temporarily unavailable" in the file size field (but you can still download)
Purple Trail
Nvidia said the desktop and notebook drivers are the same now, they simply rename them differently to separate the downloads page. So, the links above for notebook drivers are useless, no need to post them in the future, just use desktop drivers. 3 hours ago, jvidal said: The same goes for win8/7 drivers. "378.66-desktop-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe" The Win10 drivers are separate and they are not the same with Win8/7 drivers. Would be great if they would unify them, to have one for all 3, win10-win8-win7.

jvidal
up until a few versions ago, notebook and desktop drivers were different, now they just use the same installer with different names... they should call them 376.88-desktop-notebook-international-win7-win8-whql.exe or whatever. Because of this stupid naming scheme I downloaded about 1 GB of useless (repeated) files... 23 minutes ago, Purple Trail said: Nvidia said the desktop and notebook are the same now, they simply rename them differently to separate the downloads page. What I meant is that they use different names for the desktop and notebook drivers, even though they're actually the same files...

jvidal
BTW, the 342.01 drivers for older cards are identical for win7/8/10, just tested their checksums. Identical files, with different names. this means that for this paticular version, the win7-win8 drivers for desktop work for win7-win8-win10 desktops and notebooks. you need only the 32 & 64 bit installers for win7-win8. in case you own a GF 8~

I agree, serving separate desktop and notebook drivers is pointless when they are the same, just different file names. Would be great to just name them as you said "376.88-desktop-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe". And unify the different windows versions, "376.88-desktop-notebook-win10-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe". So the only difference would be 32bit versus 64bit. I guess it's easier to rename them instead of fixing the website. 1 hour ago, BALTAGY said: Where they said the installers will be the same for the future ? ManuelG from nvidia said that on a forum back in december. Doesn't really matter, anyone can verify the file size and checksum to see they are the same drivers. Another thing they should fix is the hotfix driver names, they only have for notebooks, but they are obviously meant for desktop as well, just an incorrect naming scheme. An example: 378.57 hot fix driver. They also used to have separate US only drivers, now it's just international.
debebee
I think they name the files based on your menu selection on the website... On the website if must be 1 seed/source file for all those version NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver xxx.yy Dont they issue md5sums for most of the pics on site? That way if you have a file with same crc value, why download it again?

jvidal
Anyway, some laptops only work with drivers provided by the manufacturer. Generic drivers do not work, you need to get the drivers from the manufacturer's site.
