Which VPN providers have portable clients?

I just read Precrime: Bundeskriminalamt sucht Gefährder mit RADAR (hunting terrorists with software) and they already talk about the next step of this software. Today the hunt terrorists (I don't care) on that way, but how long it needs that they hunt political activist /software cracker etc. with the same methods?

That is the reason to be more and more careful what and how you do what you do. At the moment I only know that AirVPN has a portable client but I hope there are more portable clients outside.

any information?

If you want the best VPN system then better never use any app but only driver & service. That is tho 180 degrees different as portable software. And there is a main rule about servers & providers: NEVER use one of the same country where you live! Same about DNS etc.

This portable way is only interesting for people away from one hardware, where you are not allowed to boot from a tails usb stick etc.

You do realize that a VPN just hides your real IP address and does not stop authorities from fingerprinting your system and being able to track your movements through that fingerprint.  I can see a time in the future when the 'fingerprint' of a motherboard, or other device, will be recorded along with the name of the person that bought it and thus will be used to track individuals just like the serial number of a gun is used to track it from manufacturer through the chain of buyers.  If you really don't want to be known then never connect a device to the internet, don't use email, and never get a driver's license, credit card, hunting/fishing license, passport, bank account, or any other traceable form of ID.  And it is no joke that the sales of "1984" have spiked making it a best seller again.

i don't care fingerprinting the system if I am on a computer in a public library, a internet cafe etc.

Public computers still exist which you're not owner? And allow sticks??? Omg............ :lmao:

You can use in almost all internet cafes portable software and it is normal to use a USB stick in public library (otherwise you can't stor downloaded documents etc) and not all admins are doing a good (secure) job and protect the system that you are not able to use portable tools and there are more ways .............

That smells as Germany, that is always 30 years back. ;)

Anyway... But why you care then at all about your IP and try to hide via VPN? Maybe they block or filter the connection? That I would understand, coz the whole country is like crazy filtered. But because of that you should never use a provider or server there! AirVPN website IP is also at Germany btw... Hmmmm......................

I think the best way would be to use a good VM (incl. a fully VPN installed)! Then you not need a portable VPN software for this, only the right to run a VM as exe. :coolwink:

my answer is just a theoretic construct - If I do things that government maybe don't like it is necessary to protect yourself - in all internet cafes are video cameras so if the secret service knows that something is coming from this internet cafe IP thy can look to the videos - OK that is no proof if they see you in a video but if they don't know how was the source it is harder to react. Another example -> no consulate has an onion address so you must use the normal web for mails etc. and if you want to request some help from a other country against your one government ...... No one should trust an VPN provider 100% but using TOR browser bundle through a VPN tunnel is another way not make it for the other side easy.

And if you want to have more information about AirVPN just look here https://www.privacytools.io/

I tested today AirVPN and this is the result:

  • NEVER worked, not only as .ovpn and also not as client software
  • support is only basic-bot-level
  • ... and then was simply kicked & blocked my new account. :lmao:

So I can only say..... NOT recommended!

Do you realize that your comments throughout this thread are contradicting each other? You can't just say that you concern about privacy and at the same time choose to ignore system fingerprinting. That just doesn't make sense.
