"2.80" doesn't say much, actually. It's version 6.0.1.8004.

A new one comes out every week

http://drivers.softpedia.com/downloadTag/Realtek%20HD%20Audio%20Driver

only i  install it when i clean install windows 10 because it only installed the generic driver   if it works without bugs there's no need to update this driver . if it's not broke don't fix it  you could break it  !

2.80 = WHQL STABLE while others versions in Realtek FTP that are released like every 2 weeks are just WHQL BETAS.

Wait, the FTP ones were "WHQL betas"?!  I didn't know there was any such thing, as that sounds like an oxymoron. Why would WHQL get involved with betas?

WHQL only act as a digital signature now, not like in the past that was a synonym of STABLE, now WHQL can be used for any driver, even hotfixes that are basically BETAS.

Wrong, they're almost always WHQL.

Realtek FTP is inaccessible now.

I remember being on older versions of windows  and downloading Realtek drivers causing it too break things mostly all updates for these are for  is support for new  soundcards  and compatibility  for the latest  OS  the 1st time I installed Windows 10 it installed Realtek drivers  When I installed RS1  it gave me the generic driver . Too me since i had a working driver since the end of July 2016 there 3 months late for me to worry about it now i will cross that  bridge again when  I clean install windows sound working right is very important to me to be botching it  up  . :P

that's what I said, both are WHQL, just that the ones present in FTP website were BETA while this one released in main website is STABLE.

I agree. Microsoft will certify just about anything for WHQL, as long as it passes the driver verifier. The term is nearly irrelevant.

Why would WHQL get involved with betas?

Microsoft will sign anything that gets submitted. Whether or not the driver is considered beta is up to Realtek.

Microsoft update  catalog always have newer drivers than what Realtek has  at there site so  here is a topic  that has been posting the latest drivers since  11 May 2015 from Microsoft  The so called stable driver  from Realtek  Microsoft  had it since   November 29th 2016  x64 version.

http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/5993-latest-realtek-hd-audio-driver-version.html?s=4d37e5e6d82d070056f4041ebb392873

With  Realtek's track record there all betas if you ask me none has really been tested  people have had a lot problems with so called stable versions  in the past so playing the beta vs stable card is Irrelevant.

And the drivers @realtek's FTP were not considered beta. When they were beta or "WHQL test", the name of the zip file usually indicated so.

Typical realtek shit...

NO freaking changelog, NO proper website and dl servers, practicaly NO QA and test, a huge black box supposed to improve sound but it's basically a super plain shitty driver...

When I installed this on my laptop I always got "Dell Audio" with cut 95% options. I can't install clean Realtek Audio Driver on Dell laptop. F**k you Dell :(
