HELP concerning ESET is needed !

mona

Recommended Posts

Eset doesnt quarantine links it just blocks them and I would add any links that get blocked to website url exclusion list.  I recommend you update to eset ess nine Im using esrt nodthirtytwo nine and I dont have to add url exclusions I checked to see if sites were excluded and there not and I can access nsane down (Im sorry its not the version that corrects that its the definition files).  You should upgrade to version nine if there are no conflicts with any programs using eset ess version nine.

I copied and pasted BALTAGY's  entries (added them to those proposed by Steven and  IT W@ORKED !!!!

Thanks a lot @BALTAGY    :flowers:

He posted the same ones I did? any site you exclude   you remove the http:// or https:// from the url. add a star then the url and another star it works every time.  Go see if you can download  a crack off the front page  with out the 3rd url lol I cant.

Thanks for that clarification.

But this time - in order to avoid any mistakes I copied and pasted your and BALTAGY's entries.

My exclusion list looks like that now :

@mona Hope your problem is solved. You do not need the 4th and 5th url as they are already added. Also I would backup settings to xml file in case you have to install eset again and not to go through the same process again. I have given my ESET Antivirus settings file if you want to use for version 8. Also you can revert to default settings by using the blank settings if something went wrong. Just update antivirus, register and export settings and see how it works for you.

I have moved to the eset endpoint antivirus as I want to use the newer features offered

eset settings.xml

Eset blank settings.xml

@mona can you show a pic of links in the quarantine you talk about? i don't get it how you want to restore links not files from quarantine

Moreover - I've tried creating some NEW nsanedown links just o moment ago while nsanedown site is no longer blocked.

Even that the links keep ending up in quarantine and there is no way to restore them sucessfuly.  :nono:  :dunno:

@mona Go to log files and see whether the links are in filtered websites or something else. Also read the manual as ESET is very strict in deleting cracks etc if not zipped

That's because you got the links running threw other programs  and it detects  trough those programs

Exclude the folder that contain these shortcuts then restore them, restoring them without exclude the folder first will make them get deleted again for sure

I'm not sure what you mean, Steven. What other programs ?  You mean browser, or what ?

I use to create my internet links by dragging the address line from my browser to the desktop or any other folder.  Once they are dropped in their destination - they are immediately moved to the ESET quarantine.

Had never experienced anything like that with EAM.

If you are using internet download manager you should also whitelist proxy.nsanedown.com.

Btw, Mona how are you, I think you are away for sometime?

Again thanks for valuable info, Steven.

Yes, indeed PUP detection was enabled upon installation.

Hope I can uncheck this option now when ESS is already installed.

Yes you can check them and uncheck them anytime you like.  say if you download a installer and want to check it for PUP  you can check those two boxes scan it and then uncheck them but it has loads of false positives  with cracks hack/patch and  keygen  crap and it will prevent you from being able to download some cracks lol. I enabled it before it stooped downloads  after i got  it downloaded it didn't detect  it i hate that lol. it If something has a real malware its going detect it without  those boxes you can test it with real malware in a vm  if you like :)

I know Im using the trial now when thats over Ill fix eset again.  I think eset made it so you dont have to exclude eset in version nine of its software.  For your information mona the current stable version of eset is version nine ten is beta.

Completely incorrect, v10.369 is latest (AV & SS)

I would suggest only the antivirus version of ESET which is ESET NOD32. This is lightweight. For firewall requirements use WFC. This is the combo I have been settled down to after trying a lot of things concerning security. The good thing about WFC is that it uses windows' own firewall and give user the right to control inbound and outbout connection with notifications.

I've been using ESS (and now EIS v10) since v2 with ESET firewall in interactive mode and I've always loved the way it works

I don't  think it's really no better than ESS  using WFC  ,If you learn how to use Windows 10 Firewall Control , It  can block things like TU if you use a serial  were ESS  or WFC can't  also  Windows 10 Firewall Control has network monitoring , Telemetry  Block and other goodies other firewalls don't . So saying WFC is better than all others in my book is not true, as long as it serves you're needs is all that matters but that don't mean it will serve my needs. Keep in mind i used WFC  a  good while and i switched too  Windows 10 Firewall Control. :P

Yes this happens once every 30 days you just tell it no   there's 2 Ips  you can  block in you're firewall that will stop this, also it will  remove trial key watermarks, popups,  and make keys last a little longer.

I've been searching the internet a long time for a fix to block/turn off the 30 day Eset Nag screen ...can you please let us know which 2 IP's to block. :)
