eurotrash
Hi everyone, I need to buy a new external HD and cannot decide which one to buy. So far I have only bought WD, but WD is a bit pricey. My question is this, should I stick with WD, or should I try another brand (e.g. Maxtor/Samsung/Seagate or Toshiba, etc.?) These brands cost quite a bit less then WD, so you get a lot more GB's for your money. I'm just worried, if I pay less, will I get a HD that will last less? Thanks in advance!! virge
WD My Passport Ultra Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 Very reliable drives with 3-year warranty. Available from 1TB to 4TB. Newegg has the 4TB for $120 US, good price for a 4TB portable that is the size of a cell phone. STAY AWAY FROM SEAGATE. Cheap products with high rate of failure. Bigmedion
Hi, The formuia is simple, you want the best quality ? you must pay the price ! I'm own a home made PC with Asus motherboard and two Western Digital Caviar WD 5001 Inside, run from 2010 and has 1551d 16h in use , plus the old Western Digital WD 25000 inside coming from my old PC from 2004 (A Medion)with 2458 day in use and everything works fine, had a Iomega Ego for backup with Seagate Momentus inside, after 3 years he is completely dead !! Even specialised programs like recuva can't read the data ! replaced with A Iomega prestige, inside it's a Hitachi 1Tera HD, everything is ok
lurch234
I have two Seagate external HD. One 500 GB usb 3 to backup my OS and another 2 TB usb 2 to backup everything else. The keyword here is backup.I only power them on for that purpose. That being said, I have them for about 4 years now and they are in perfect working order.
