This is simply another form of internet censorship.

I do not believe anyone can decide for other people what information is or is not required. Information is information. People have the right to knowledge. Whether they apply it, need it or not.

All due respect to the Indian court, but this is an uninformed decision, in my opinion.

It is kind of a "censorship" but actually applies to ADVERTISEMENTS not for general info.  Of course the content of an advertisement might be useful, informative and educative. I just can't understand why people in India don't have the full rights to prenatal sex determination, including to know how and where it's done and by whom!

EDITED:

Yes, I understand this judgment might have some reason behind, but as it says THEY SHOULDN'T TRY TO KILL THE MESSENGER!

Good move. Hardly covered in the news here. While SC here in India here these days are acting completely foolish and authoritarian, I think this is good.

Agreed.

Simply put, in India, no one wants girl child. This is because whenever a girl child is born, it causes huge burden on the father or the family, this is specifically due the fact that due to traditional reasons, an enormous amount of money is required to get the girl married, which is because all the extra expensive costs of marriage in which all the cost have to be taken care by the girl's father and he is responsible for it's success and expensiveness due to the peer and public / group standing reasons. Add to that, the money of jewellery - which needs to be given in enormous amount to the to be married girl by the father and then the - gifts - that needs to be given to the girl's in-laws - while not every tradition follows this, a lot of them do.

Then there is this belief, that the son will grow up and earn for the family and stay with the family, while the girl will need to married and go away. This is not exactly true as sons do not necessarily care for their parents and finally it's the girl that take's care / looks after the parents. It defers from person from person.

This is the reason, atleast couple of main ones, why the gender ratio in India is very bad. This is also the reason why gender determination tests in India are completely banned - so is advertising for it. But people always find ways.

While this is one of the bad sides of the ever colorful and rich in culture country, it's not all bad. Things are changing. Parents are understanding that son is not the only priority - daughters are good too - girl / female and girl child in India are considered goddess in India - just that people have forgotten about it. These days, girls are also earning, some even taking care of their marriage's cost. I personally think the marriages do not need to be so expensive and the costs should be shared between the girl and the boy. Then the parents are also understanding that girls are always with their side no matter what. Add to that, a lot of strict measures are taken to prevent the gender determination tests.

Then there's also the political will, while the media in India does not take a single second to think before criticizing our PM - somethings finding baseless reasons and even - manufacturing - news, all due to their hatred against him as all are mostly owned by the opposition parties. What our PM did was to start a nationwide campaign for the girl child - the thing means save the girl, educate the girl and he is working very hard on it.
