Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting to get different results . And most likely unless someone else knew about Firewall blocking to begin with if it was  not for me you would of never known about it. i was blocking ips trough ip sect before there ever was a block ip topic here and i had blocked ips in my firewall back around 2007 or 2008 before for IDM but host block was the thing then so i used it tell 2014 .  From  a lot of years of testing all patches fail  after so long and Hostblock  get weakened by the dev to the point it stop working at all, And now hes after people who uses FW block he added a vp protection were its not that easy if he changes the ip on you . The worse thing a trail version can do is expire  it never even blacklist you.

 

@steven36  What you have said is perfectly right and obvious.  But don't expect the mad, hateful  CLOWN and IGNORANT  to admit it.

I've never even considered this trial reset, "until now", because I thought it was just another way to tackle the problem,, but reading between what you and @steven36 say, all of a sudden made for some very interesting food for thought and I have to be honest,, what has been said in this thread alone about IDM and its habits over the years of development, is dead correct. I too have been using this forever (maybe not from day 1 but certainly from day 2,, straight after I got p*ssed of with GetRight), and I've seen how it leads you astray thinking that you've got it beaten with patches,, then it fails - time and time again.. What @steven36 said - "The worse thing a trail version can do is expire  it never even blacklist you" just seemed to make the most sense of all. I think I'll try it the next time I install another version. The only thing is that I haven't installed another version for a good handful of months now, believing that the one I use now works perfectly, so why update,, or is that NOT a wise way to go with IDM..?? @steven36 also says that with the trial, the "Delete Completed" button fails to work, but Ctrl-A then Delete via the program or the keyboard does. I too can also live with this...

 

What is the very latest trail reset that you can point me to, please..!!

Trial reset by babelpatcher (IDM.v6.X.X-TrialForever)  has worked great for years.  It's so much more convenient to use. 

I put the last version of TR executable in my IDM folder in April (I keep it there). Since then I've very little to do.

I let IDM update automatically (or you can click "check for updates" in "about" window). 

My only duty is to run TR executable shortly after that  (make sure IDM is closed from your taskbar first).

Is there anything simpler than that ?

 

BTW

I used to use firewall method before, but over months TR proved to be the most convenient and trouble-free way to get IDM working.

Try it out and see for yourself.
